I accidently lost everything in my computer after I did a data safe backup and re set my computer to factory setting....NOW when my computer goes to sleep I can't wiggle my mouse and get it back! Windows doesn't seem to want to re load unless I re boot the entire system......HELP!

reported that after using DataSafe and doing a factory reset the machine will go to sleep but will not come back without a full reboot. Members and suggested turning sleep off as a quick workaround. Before removing sleep permanently, try a few targeted checks—factory restores often install generic drivers or omit OEM power utilities and ACPI support, which commonly break wake-from-sleep behavior.

Quick diagnostic checklist (run Command Prompt as Administrator and check Control Panel):

  • Run these commands to see what can wake the PC and any recent wake events:
powercfg -devicequery wake_armed
powercfg -lastwake
powercfg -waketimers
powercfg -energy
  • In Device Manager, expand Keyboards, Mice and other pointing devices, Network adapters and Universal Serial Bus controllers. For each input device and for USB Root Hubs open Properties -> Power Management: enable “Allow this device to wake the computer” for the keyboard/mouse and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” for USB hubs.

  • In Control Panel -> Power Options -> Change plan settings -> Change advanced power settings: set USB selective suspend to Disabled, PCI Express -> Link State Power Management to Off, and Sleep -> Allow hybrid sleep to Off. On Windows 8/10 also check “Turn on fast startup” under Choose what the power buttons do and disable it if present.

Install chipset/USB/controller drivers and any vendor power-management utilities from the PC maker rather than relying only on Windows Update. Check BIOS/UEFI for USB/keyboard/mouse wake settings and enable them if available. Only update BIOS if the vendor’s changelog explicitly mentions sleep/resume fixes and the update instructions are followed carefully.

If none of the above restores wake behavior, disabling sleep or using hibernate is a practical fallback, but it avoids the underlying ACPI/driver issue rather than fixing it.

did you try hitting the enter key or pushing the power button in for a second or 2

I have hit every key possible...the lil windows key, the enter key, the power button you name it!!!!

sleep is a feature i never use so i have never had problems with it ,so i suggest to people ,unless you are using a laptop away form a powwer source and really need the extra battery life ,just turn the sleep feature off in power options .

I've had similar problems with my PC, so I just turned sleep mode off.
