I purchased a PC that originally had Windows Me on it.
I later installed th XP Home Upgrade Edition.

I plan on installing a new hard drive and doing a fresh install
of XP Home Edition. Since this is only the Upgrade version,
does this mean that I will have to reinstall Windows Me AND
reinstall the XP Home version, or is there a better way?

Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks.

Unfortunately the only way without purchasing a new copy of Windows XP you would have to install Windows ME then run the upgrade to Windows XP.

your speaking crap pabs31.

My dads pc had me and we upgraded it to XP but then we had to reinstall it after a couple of months.

We booted off the XP cd and it asked us whether we wanted to insert the 98/ME disk or have it scan the hdd for an upgradeable OS. We put the me disk in and it checked it was valid - after that XP installed fine.

This was on a 2003/4 version of XP, maybe you cant do this anymore?
