I just moved into an apartment and there is wireless internet available. I have a D-Link WDA 2320 Wireless adapter in my IMB desktop running Windows XP. It automatically detects the signal and I can get on the internet just fine. But when I try to use certain programs or do certain things it drops out.

It will not stay connected to AIM or Gaim. I will connect and after a few minutes it disconnects.

When I try to download large files it will just stop downloading and I have to restart it.

And when I'm on gaming sites, like Bodog Poker. It lags extremely bad and sometimes disconnects.

Is there a certain way I need to configure my computer to get it to work?

YOUR COMPUTER HAS A VIRUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Just kidding, I don't know. You should try to move your computer so you get a better signal, maybe reinstalling the hardware might help. Or maybe the wireless in your apartment is limited and you can only get so much bandwith or be connected so long.
