a) => The fact that it does this is a bug. Added to todo list.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I am willing to bet that this is due to third party ads.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Eek, so it's still happening!? I really need to see the full email + headers. Can you email it to me?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I got them. And I think I figured out the problem.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Also, can you please send me the actual contents of the messages?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Correct. It is rather random. I compared 4 good emails and 4 bad emails but found nothing consistent in the headers.

Content-Type: text/html; charset="utf-8"

vs

Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8"

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Are they still coming in? I made a change about two hours ago and was wondering if that fixed the problem.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Ok so you got both emails within minutes of each other, and one was good and the other wasn't?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

The tag feature is handy!
When I click on Java I get all the threads tagged with Java.
If I do this for C# or C++ I get an invalid tag specified error.

Fixed.

Quick response before I head into the office for the day:
When viewing a post, click the user's name and in the dropdown select "Find all posts by X" without having to go into their profile at all.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Please give a detailed error message expaining when you get html vs plaintext mail, which emails it happens for, and please show me the contents of the email and email headers.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Sorry about that ... You're right, it wasn't working. I went and fixed it just now.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Yes, that's acceptable :)

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

The userrep page was recoded.

The permalink for each post on the post number was removed because it linked to a page just containing that one post, and I felt that was very unuseful because people who ended up on the page never grasped anything in the context of the discussion. It also created duplicate content issues with Google.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

What happened to userrep.php where you could review all of your reputation?
Previously was http://www.daniweb.com/forums/userrep.php?pp=30

On the todo list. Need to recode that one :)

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Reputation fixed and email link bbcode removed.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

You need to disable rep power in the Community Center forums.

I was under the impression that rep wasn't being affected if it was handed out here. Is there a bug in the new way it works?

Whenever I try to view anyone's profile I get: (see attachment)

Yes, I was working on member profiles at the time. :) Site was going up and down most of the weekend.

Another bug I think. Before update was regularly getting email notification of posts to subscribed threads. Since update, nada. I kind of a pain when trying to assist someone and not getting the update sent as response is given.

Thank you for notifying me that email subscriptions weren't working. I fixed them, and hence the flow of emails all rushing in at once.

I posted C# code in the VB.NET (it was a mistake, i meant to answer w/ VB.NET) forum with:

[code=csharp]
...code went here...
[/code]

But when viewing my post it shows "VB.NET Syntax (Toggle Plain Text)". It looks like its overriding the language i specified in the tag with the forums default?

If you specify an invalid language, it defaults to using the one from the current forum. csharp is now invalid in favor of C#. For c++, you can do C++ or cpp.

Don't know if it's a bug or not, but I'm allowed to edit tags on threads. I don't even know what it does, but it looks like something only mods are allowed to do :)

Anyone can add tags to any thread. You shouldn't be able to delete existing tags though.

Small bug but the boarders between posts don't show.

Windows xp firefox 3.5.2

This is the new design of the Business Exchange.

Another small bug.

In the main reply to thread box when you click on the colour box (red/green) the colours display somewhere on the left-handside rather than immediately under.

Also when you click the showprintable version under thread tools it comes up with a php parse error.

Fixed and fixed.

Everything is totally integrated into the forum system now. I haven't yet finished the search feature, but here you go:

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Nope, I'm not.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Should be fixed.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Lots of bugs are to be expected right now. Nearly all of the code has changed :) Salem, your bug is low priority right now because you're seeing notices about reported posts that you reported yourself (hence you're the thread starter). :)

We now cache signatures, but it should have been cleared out. Chalk it up to a bug that will be fixed in the future ... Currently working on priming the new version of vBulletin to go live, so hold any thoughts for now.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

It is a custom-coded feature on DaniWeb. It cannot be accomplished via a template update alone. The easiest thing I could think of doing is creating an ICODE bbcode and use <span style="font-family:courier new, fixed"> as the opening tag and </span> as the closing tag.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Actually ... for login issues, you have to clear your cookie, not your cache.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Expect a fix by next week :) We're currently updating to the latest version of vBulletin.

I have never received that PM before either. And I ignored it because most of the questions do not apply to me and there were no appropriate answers for someone like me. I started to fill it out, but quit when I got to the part that asked for personal information.

The part asking for your name and email address is optional and included only to participate in the drawing for a free iPod nano. It won't be shared with anyone.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I do try to run these surveys once a year. The reason I send them via PM is because if I were to petition for feedback here, I'd get 10, maybe 20 responses. However, the survey let me easily assemble thousands upon thousands of responses in one place and completely organize them. Unfortunately, there were some technical difficulties, and the PMs went out to everyone with Private Messaging enabled as opposed to being friendly to the option to opt out of messages from the administration (aka the monthly newsletter) as it was in the past.

As far as choosing not to take part in them because they help us land advertisers ... that's just silly :) We're going to have ads either way.

If people take part in the survey, we are able to get well known, quality ads that are highly relevant and targeted to our visitors and therefore charge a premium rate to advertisers who will be able to put appropriate, targeted messages in front of the perfect audience.

If people don't take part in the survey, our advertisers won't know as much about our audience demographics and what type of products would interest our visitors and therefore we'll just have low quality Punch the Monkey style ads that are generic to all untargeted audiences and not be able to get a lot of money for them.

However, we were able to collect over 5,000 responses so far and I've especially immensely enjoyed reading …

Do a regular site search and then click the link that says filter results by code snippets.

I'm not sure I understand ... As GrimJack pointed out, there are sites that are entirely devoted to making the public aware of the latest security threats and viruses on an up-to-the-minute basis. New viruses are coming out every single day and keeping track of them like this is a fulltime job.

Thanks for letting us know. I'm marking this thread solved since the offending user has been taken care of. :)

Today was the first time we experienced any type of problem in a couple of weeks. Additionally, today's problem only existed for an hour or two.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Yeah the problem only existed for an hour or two.

One of our four web servers is down, we're only using one of our two database servers due to replication issues, and blud is unavailable.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Also ... so you can get to the manage attachments window but then just can't actually upload the attachment?

Sorry, my test account :) Was trying to see if the problem only affects regular members.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

What web browser?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I'm wondering though whether it's a permission-based setting ... i.e. we can do it b/c we have moderator privileges. Incidentally, I fixed tux4life's problem with his homepage in the meantime :)

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

One problem at a time. Attachments are actually the more serious concern right now for me since the homepage is custom-tailored for you ... what happens when you try to attach the image?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Uploading doesn't work?!

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Can you screenshot it please? Thanks!

It's true I want to keep the ranks a surprise as encouragement to post more and see what's next. The memberlist is unavailable because it was KILLING our server resources. After spending nearly two full days trying to redo all it's code to optimize it, I decided it wasn't worth it.
