9767 is the attachment id number. What you have to do is use the advanced post interface (not quick reply). Then, scroll to where you can upload an attachment from your hard drive. By default, the attachment will be included at the bottom of your post. However, if you want the attachment to be included inline anywhere within your post, then use the attach bbcode to specify its location based on the attachment # it was assigned when it was uploaded.

Click on the member count at the very top of the page, next to where it says you're logged in as AD.

A css background can also be applied to the textbox itself.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Looks like something that is supposed to be docked there is having issues. If this was Vista I'd say maybe you had the sidebar up but nothing in it. Can you right click in the blank area by any chance?

This shouldn't be happening and I actually cannot reproduce this.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I'm very lazy and haven't read this entire thread so I don't know if this has been brought up already but, when a thread hasn't been replied to within a couple of months, there is a little notice above the quick reply box that says, "This thread is more than three months old. Perhaps start a new thread instead?"

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I'll be quick ... one of the main points that I'e always stressed was that threads are not just there to help the OP but to help many, many other people as well, years into the future. If someone a year down the line has the answer to the question, then by all means, post it so that it will be helpful to everyone else, regardless of whether the OP abandoned the thread.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Basically that would really bulk up the SQL query that fetches posts each time a thread is displayed and IMHO is unnecessary for the extra resources it would take.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

It's the default vBulletin message when either good or bad rep is posted. I kinda thought it was funny/cute and so I decided to keep it.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Because when the Mark as Solved link WAS a full button, it didn't get clicked *at all*. Making it the text link improved matters significantly, actually.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Huh??

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

what is the actual problem?

In other words, what's the error message? What specifically doesn't work?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

That's the old menu. You have to clear your browser cache / temporary internet files. (note: not your cookies)

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

It's always under the person icon. You might need to clear your browser cache. However, it is slightly confusing in that the dropdown menu for the person icon is left aligned in that it *might* appear like it's under Business Exchange when it's not ... I was trying (rather unsuccessfully, it seems) to accomidate 1024x768 users from having the dropdown menu go off the right side of the screen. You can see what I mean by moving the mouse over the Business Exchange and little person items in the menu.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Business Exchange is the new name for the IT Water Cooler.

The IT Professionals' Lounge is under the Community Center, the new name for the Coffee House ... Which is represented by the little person icon.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Done.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I've been posting today from both home and the office with no problems. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Let me know if it continues into tomorrow ... I don't really have any ideas to investigate right now.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

This situation is under control now, right? Can someone who's not using an ad blocker or has ads disabled b/c they're a premium user please let the rest of us know :)

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I am of the belief that you should always have a tableless design. By this I mean that the actual layout of the design itself should be tableless ... Tables can be used for tabular content within the page but shouldn't be used to structure the layout.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Just use "flag bad post" on the first post of the thread (the spammy one).

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

One of the results in the search you're performing has a super long word that is pushing the table out too long.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

The forum highlights was moved from right above the wide skyscraper ad in the sidebar to right below it. AD, you have ad blocking turned on.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Also keep in mind that while we encourage DaniWeb to be a student-friendly place to learn, the site as a whole is geared towards the professional industry and not towards students or individual courses that might be a part of a computer science curriculum.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

We do have a computer science and software design / engineering forum for all those types of questions => http://www.daniweb.com/forums/forum14.html

We recently started working with a new ad network. Someone brought this up a couple of days ago and I thought it was taken care of. I'm going to handle this for once and for all today.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Leopard added to the list. Thanks for the catch.

Fixed.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

It looks like the announcements in that category have expired ... fixing.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Lunarpages is definitely a legit company. They've been around for years and years and they advertise here on DaniWeb.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

We would need to see your code / mysql queries where the rows are being added to the table.

Kavitha Butchi commented: thnx fr the response +1
Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Exactly.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Clear out your temporary internet files / browser cache. This should fix the issue.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

That's really weird. I haven't experienced any problems.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Sorry, I replied to this thread but I forgot to hit the submit button and then I navigated off the page and lost my response.

But yeah, I'm an IE user, but I use Firefox every day for certain things, and DaniWeb looks fine.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

It works fine for me.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

No but you can go into your control panel and always see all of the reputation you've received, so if you want to stay on top of it, just visit daily :)

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I think that you're taking this too seriously. And yes, there are that many people interacting with the website ;)

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I'm not sure what you mean?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Well for whatever reason, they liked what you had to say, and so when they joined, they listed you as the person who referred them.

1) Yay, our new welcome guide is useful :)

2) You can only edit your post for up to 30 minutes.

I don't know, I was sleeping. I woke up, saw this thread, and commented.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Is this still happening for you? I cleared my cache and the site is loading just fine.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I caught a bug with them not working in IE6 when I was out this afternoon. I decided to just temorarily stop them until I had a chance to get home and fix the problem.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Sorry, the 15 second limit cannot be removed. When a post is reported, the post and thread tables are both updated with new rows, which are the most frequently accessed tables in the database.

Keep in mind that all members can report posts. Without a limit, a bot can be created to repeatedly report over and over again, hitting the database too hard and creating write locks on our two most important tables.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

It is meant to be tongue-in-cheek. For example, if you give someone bad rep, may you be lucky enough to receive the same thing back.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Fixed :)

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

That's not a problem with the database, that's a problem with the PHP code. And that's the issue brought up in the other thread linked to that still hasn't been solved yet.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

When were there problems with the database?
