i don't think it's possible for mp3 players to get viruses

Actually, I think I've read stuff about iPods having viruses...but thats beside the point.

What i think the problem here is a defective part inside the mp3 player.

I'd have it sent back...

theme xp is decent but it has adware.

Heh, well before I knew how to fix it, I hated that problem. I think the problem has to do with having Scroll Lock on. Try messin with that (Scroll lock for me is Num Lk (on the very top row) + Fn.
