Good idea...and am beginning to look into it now (improving my website/build others).
Last question, what's the diff between HTML and XHTML?

Ninnay,
What are you saying? :surprised
I always find that hands on dirty is the best way to go.... look at other people's code, and go from there.... try little things yourself, practice code, and find an idea that you real like..
Heh that's how I love to learn....but that's just complicated when ya know virtually nothing in the topic
Heh well that might be just a natural prob then. Correct me if Im wrong anybody, but even I experience that problem, mabe once a week. However, if I just let it sit for a second, it corrects itself and is fine.
Hope this helps :)
Just contact your host, tell them you want basic authentication for your directory, and be done with this.
Heh, good idea, I'll be doin that as soon as I can.
Thanks again guys.
EDIT: One last thing, if ya don't mind.
What would be the best place (in your opinion at least) to learn basic coding? I was originally thinking a book...but I dunno.
Heh awsome.
Good luck.
Hmmm...if ya wait a second, not moving it, not clicking anything, does the problem go away?
That's odd.
Have ya tried looking at mouse drivers? Or perhaps somehow you disableled both mouses (mice)?
Post a HJT thread in the Virus forum.
Thanks.
...but generally what you’re looking for is free software that converts FLAC to .aiff, which is the most common conversion type. If you find one that converts to .mp3, you’re ahead of the game. Just be sure the mp3 quality is ok, because that’s a big loss to go directly from FLAC to MP3.
And a search of download.com turns up some stuff.
Try this one: http://www.download.com/Top-CD-Ripper-and-Converter/3000-2140_4-10405994.html?tag=lst-0-10
Hmmm...mabe I'm missing the point.
Why would ya have the primary partition as C, but not have an OS installed in it?
Welcome to Daniweb :)
tgreer- you couldnt password protect with html, even if it didnt matter how secure it is? Truthfully, I just dont want friends purveying my site
comatose- how would ya set permissions on the directory.
Lastly, would a javascript password gate work?
Thanks guys.
Arg, I think I'm trying to find somethin that would password protect the page.
I tried using .htaccess & .htpasswd text files, but that didn't seem to work.
Heh first off, I want to thank the responders here for the help given.
Ok, now for the prob.
I just wrote my first ever HTML page (awful if ya ask me), and I'm mainly using it as a place to keep files and such. However, it's still in development.
What I'm trying to do is password protect it's directory and all the files inclosed inside it.
Some more slight background stuff.
I read over this page for some tips, and here's my sort-of response to it:
1) I don't really need something super secure. I just want protection from the basics.
2) admin privs - I have admin status inside my directory
3) I dunno which OS/webserver I'm using  (see, this space was given as a sorta gift). Is there a way to check this?
Here's the current code if ya wanna see that:

Umm....there's a better place for this....
accidently drop it down your stairs or get your dog to piss all over it and you get a nice brand new one from your insurance company no matter how old it is.
Hehe, I like it. :)
Never saw the movie, sorry
*seizure*
(not really freezing but momentary pausing)
Haha ya, that's what I've had too...then again, I'm only running a wimpy Dell laptop:sad:
Nothing like Dani's new Alienware...
Psssh....9/10
Hmm, have ya tried disabeling F@H before trying to play?
I have experiencecd problems with F@H with games, I must add...
Ahh, I hate to say it, but I strongly disagree with ya. ;)
First off, I guess ya could say I'm "in the know" about malware, etc--it's my specialty. Time and time again, all these problems crop up, mostly all of them because of malware/viruses/etc, when truthfully, nearly all of these can be avoided simply by being somewhat cautious with your computer. Even if you became infected, there are a variety of hands-on ways to fix the problem youreself--antivirus/antimalware/firewalls. If the problem supercedes even these, then all that's required is one of us specialty guys ;)
I can't lie...although most problems with computers have to do with malware, not all do. Oftentimes, the computer gets naturally slow. This in itself is easily fixable-- a mixture of a registry cleaner (CCleaner, for example) and a defragmenter.
In short, using an imaging software as a backup is similar to not filling your car with oil...because "hey, when it breaks, I can just buy a new one". In other words, youre computer is just like youre car, it takes maintence.
Umm....there's a better place for this ccwai...
Let's fine this better place :)
Thanks.
Haha not bad...
Congratulations Davey!
Haha a fellow Chicagoan...and ya can tell from some of youre responses :)
Well, I'm a Chicagoan at heart...born there at least, and am just being a tad bit sidetracked in Tennessee right now ;)
Welcome to Daniweb :)
Hahaha thats great :cheesy:
Nope, I have no remose for people like you, I'm sorry. :-|
If you'd asked, mabe, 2 weeks ago, and with a specific problem, you might recieve help.
Thanks.
but I’m currently 8 hours into the new work with at least 18 hours left to go on my right arm/chest.
And you'll be sure to post pictures after its done.
(that's not simply a suggestion either) :cheesy:
Your Personality Profile

You are elegant, withdrawn, and brilliant.
Your mind is a weapon, able to solve any puzzle.
You are also great at poking holes in arguments and common beliefs.
For you, comfort and calm are very important.
You tend to thrive on your own and shrug off most affection.
You prefer to protect your emotions and stay strong.

Zidane is, it has to be said, a truly magnificent footballing craftsman.
....although, combined with Thierry Henry & Paddy Viera, ya got a pretty unstoppable mid/offence.
My money now lays in France.
My prediction: Germany vs France in the final, with France winning on the day (probably extra time or penalties though.)
You're good
Heh, sure does sound like spyware.
I think other's will agree that the best place for you is the Virus forum.
Thanks.
Try CCleaner:
Begin by downloading CCleaner, and specifically choosing the most recent version.
Then, follow these steps:
1. Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
2. Double-click on the "My Computer" icon.
3. Select the "Tools" menu and click "Folder Options".
4. After the new window appears select the "View" tab.
5. Place a checkmark in the checkbox labeled "Display the contents of system folders".
6. Under the "Hidden files and folders" section select the radio button labeled "Show hidden files and folders".
7. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled "Hide file extensions for known file types".
8. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled "Hide protected operating system files". 9. Press the "Apply" button and then the "OK" button and shutdown My Computer.
10. Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.
Now, install the program. Open it, and choose the 'Options' tab. Inside, hit the 'Custom' tab, and add the following folders (Note: Not all of these files are on every computer. If one of these isn't present, skip it):
C:\Windows\Temp
C:\Temp
C:\Documents and Settings\<Every user listed>\Local Settings\Temp
C:\Documents and Settings\<Every user listed>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5
C:\Documents and Settings\<Every user listed>\Local Settings\History
C:\Documents and Settings\<Every user listed>\Cookies
C:\Windows\Prefetch
After doing this, move back to the 'Cleaner' tab, and inside this, be sure your open to the …
Possible virus. Post a new thread with a HJT log inside the VIrus forum.
Thanks.
Hmm, this is sorta a shot in the dark, but I think it'd be wise to try:
try reinstalling the 'old' version of Java that was on your computer (that didn;t uninstall all the way). Now, uninstall it using the built in uninstaller.
Now, visit Java's website and try to download the lastest then.
Thanks.
Now I don't think you would need to buy a certain model, but that might just apply to desktops....
Sorry if that doesn't help ;)
I'd post a HJT log in the Virus forum to verify you're clean.
Thanks.
I think they are sometimes, but it depends on the filters.
Nada, it's illegal, and we don't condone it.
Here's the canned for a 'Nail' infection:
Begin by downloading Ewido Security Suite.
Install ewido security suite
When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
Install background guard
Install scan via context menu
Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
The program will now open to the main screen.
When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
On the left hand side of the main screen click Update.
Then click on Start Update.
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. The status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful"
Now, close the program WITHOUT scanning.
Next, download Nailfix and unzip it to the desktop, but DO NOT run it yet.
Then, reboot into Safe Mode by restarting your computer and pressing F8 as your computer is booting up. Then select the Safe Mode option.
Once in Safe Mode, double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.
Then, run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.
Next, open HJT and place checks next to the following:
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe]
Now, Close all open …

Aw man, I love playing the piano..although I'm not that great ;)
Unfortunately, I'd have to be Scrooge to afford a Steinway. ;(
Jeez! I know...we got a Baldwin baby grand and it still cost a fortune.
Heh just curious...is your name in reference to Steinway Pianos?
Heh ya.
And I didn't know about them into I was well into about 100 posts :(
Dude, that's enough.
Stop spamming please.
Heh sorry for a late reply, but I personally would go with AVG as the resident, and Avast as the manual second.
Thanks.
