You should post your questions in the forums as that is why they are here. Most members will not want you to ask them questions by PM or IM as they will feel they belong here for the community to answer. They may even report you as a spammer depending …

Well, you'll know better then us if that meets the criteria set forth by your academic institution. But an ecommerce site can be fairly complex especially when you add payment options to it.

They don't mind relative paths at all. That's a myth and a poor one at that. It came about because Google recommends using full URLs in their webmaster tips and newbies instantly assumed relative URLs were bad. It's simply untrue. You should use full URLs if you want to be …

Your question is so generic that we can't help you. If you do a quick search in Google you'll find lots of tips for optimizing a website. Do that first. If you have any questions about what you read ask them here. Then we will be able to help you.

Do you know a server side programming language like PHP or Java? If not, you won't be able to do this without finding an existing script or someone to do it for you.

Let everyone read your forums. Hiding them makes it much more difficult to get new members. Reading the content and seeing that it is a lively community are the two of the biggest reasons new members sign up. Hiding your community takes this all away.

Chris Beasley just wrote an excellent blog post PageRank. There is a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding about it out there and I think this should help to clear it up for a lot of people. It's a quick read and certainly worth the time. PageRank: An Essay

It may affect Google, and other search engines, from being able to parse your HTML properly which could affecting your rankings (they can't read your content) and ability to be indexed. Either way, 1,000 errors is really bad and you need to address that right away.

PHP Not only is it easier to use IMHO, but it offers so much more then SSI. So, if you may want to do more in the future, you're already using the right technology.

There are so many different factors involved in rankings pages that it is easy for them to rank sites about the same products. Even if the on page factors were identical in every way the off page factors would make the difference.

I'll skip over the usual website promotion techniques and do forum specific ones. 1) Put the 5 or 10 latest posts on your site home page. That will show people what is going on in your community and hopefully invite them in. It also helps to keep your homepage fresh. …

That means those pages are more relevant for those search terms in the eyes of Google. You have to keep in mind there are a lot of factors in determining a page's rank. You have to do more then just links with anchor from those pages. A lot more....

You want to use keywords that your page is about. If you don't: 1) You will rank poorly because your stuffed keywords don't match your content and you don't get the maximum effect for either 2) Your visitors will leave because you don't have the content they want and they …

Making headers and bold tags look like regular text with CSS is a black hat technique and will get you banned from the SERPs if you get caught. Use these tags as they were meant to be used and you will do just fine.

To help troubleshoot this I would suggest removing portions of code until you are able to narrow it down to a small snippet that is causing the error. That will make troubleshooting much easier.

Google's reporting fluctuates regularly. It's generally unreliable. Fortunately it is not important as what you see in those reports is stale information anyways and not what they are ranking your pages with.
