with some cable ISPs they require specific timeout settings on your router, this could be the issue. call your ISP and find out the optimal settings .. also set your network card duplexing to 1000full or 100full AND do the stuff rch1231 said :)

could be DNS. go to control panel , network connections , right click properties on lan adapter , select TCPIP , click properties put 4.2.2.2 in dns server 1 to test that. then restart your computer

or you can use pdfkey pro. that works good for copying PDFs also. that program will also allow you to edit / copy protected documents

try using some sort of fdisk tool to completely remove the free dos partition. i suspect it came preinstalled with a different file format therefore the windows xp install disk cannot read it. once you completely remove of the partitions then try your xp install again.

use a document storage system. microsoft sharepoint services is free for up to 5 users i think... and 4gb limit database. we use that and can access files remote , local , and on mobile devices.

64bit it much better i think, in windows 7 most apps are backwards compatible 32 and 64. that was the big issue for me before 64bit os and then a bunch of programs would run on it. now you can run most of em on 64

we use a lot of logmein. you are able to reboot the pc , it doesn't freeze up on the windows 7 popup messages and you can use the free version for almost everything. logmein rescue is awesome also for support.
