It's simple really. Because everyone who uses their counter links back to their homepage. Remember, PR is all about links, not relevancy or how great a web page is.

Yep, it probaby has something to do with their 54 million backlinks coming from outside of their domain.

Man, with that many backlinks, you could probably have a one-page site with one paragraph on it and still earn a PR10.

Since PR has nothing to do with content I'd say that is a safe bet. ;)

Wow, talk about lucky! I'd love to have the ad revenue from a site like that :D

Having a high PR does not mean the site makes a lot of money from ad revenue or a lot of money in general. It probably doesn't get that much traffic to justify high pricing for ads. And even though it is a PR 10 it is an offtopic link for every other website that is not a stat counter so a link from there won't make any real difference for another site's SERPs further reducing its value.

What about a site that has no backlinks and Google granted them PR6.
Just take a look at this nonsence, total scam and is indexed by Google, how could this be possible , i've been working hard for 2 years to get to PR4. Here is this scam thing << url snipped >> Really a "Google NonSence" :)
Anybody has something to say?

Oh yes, Dani, please make that link invisible for search engines
I'm going to be flagged for a bad post from this site owners.

Well you can actually find out whether that PR is a fake or real using this tool.

Now a days people give some much importance to Google PR that websites are created just to get pagerank and then sell links. But getting PR quickly is not easy, so they use 301 or 302 redirect method to show higher PR in the toolbar and sell links on that page..

I checked that url, here is the result:
" Sorry, we cant verify the pagerank for this page. This probably means that the specific url is not in the Google index on the data center we checked."
The google tool bar seems to be not working. So watch out guys, Keep out!!! Here is the web site in question: http://www.dataentrypro.com/

I wouldn't worry about it. That site is legit and really does have that many backlinks.

There's nothing wrong in PR10, everyone will admit that its a great site for web analytics. When Google analytics can get a good PR, why shouldn't statcounter get it ?

Thats just nuts that amount of backlinks.

According to google... that page has over 2.7 million backlinks... google itself has 1.9 million.

:D

You got to love those stats :)

As this is a free hit counter site .A lot of sites link to this.

There are tactics used by some sites that are not appreciated by google, but still they do it to increase their pagerank. This must be one of them.
