My site is listed on a couple of "Top Site" sites and I would like to have my banner on them too, can anyone please advise me how I do this.
Many Thanks

There are two different problems mixed together here: embedding a "vote" or banner image from a Top‑Site on your own pages, and getting your banner displayed on the Top‑Site pages themselves. has already shown copying the image properties works on most sites but fails on one — that one is likely doing something different (CSS/JS delivery, referer checks, or hotlink protection). , and pointed to the usual routes; below are concrete diagnostics and next steps that add useful detail.

Follow these checks in order:

  1. Try "Copy image address" then paste into a new tab. If it opens, you can embed that URL.
  2. If it does not open, press F12 (Developer Tools) -> Elements to find whether the banner is an <img> or a CSS background-image. Copy the URL from the style if needed.
  3. Use the Network tab and reload the page, filter by "img" or look for the banner filename. Check the status code (200 vs 403/404). A 403 or placeholder image usually means hotlink protection or a referer check.
  4. If the image is served by a script (banner.php?x=...), opening it in a new tab may redirect or block — another sign of protection.

If the target site blocks external embeds, options are: ask the site owner for an allowed embed code or permission to host the image yourself, host your own banner that links to their voting page (check their rules first), or negotiate paid/reciprocal placement so they host your banner.

Sample message to send to the Top‑Site admin:

Hello — my site is listed as [your listing URL]. I tried to grab the banner image to place on my site but the image URL either does not open or returns an error (HTTP 403). Can you provide the official embed HTML or allow hotlinking for the banner? If required I can host a small image locally that links to the vote page. Thanks, [your name]

If the goal is to have your banner appear on their pages, state desired ad size, duration and whether you can swap a link/banner — many Top‑Sites require a paid slot or an explicit exchange.

There are many ways that you can advertise a banner. You can join banner exchange sites where you can place your banner on a site and in turn place a member banner on yours. You can also buy banner exposures at different sites. There are many options available as to advertising your banner, just do a bit of research and you will notice it is easier than you think.

Also for exchange, write to the webmasters of various sites similar to yours for banner exchange.

Hi Jenny I dont think I have explained myself very well, I know how to use exchange banner sites but this is different, I have my site listed on sites where people vote for them, I have on some gone to the properties on my website banner to get the link, this works on most of them but on one site it hasnt and I wondered if anyone knew how I could do it.
Many Thanks

Techies, I think Jenny misunderstood the question, just like I did. When you first read it, it comes off as if you are trying to figure out how to use them. My suggestion is that if only one is not working you need to email the administration, or sent a message to the contact us email.

Just submit your site in the directory where in you both reciprocate your links and banners. or you can join other TOP sites list directories where you can add banner of your site to them. And the other way is, link or banner exchange to other sites.
