My pc is a p3 which i am trying to reload the operating sytem,but it is giving me error code 5 cannot boot from cdrom. how can i resolve this problem.

Well, the first thing is to follow the chain of commands. Is this a copy of a CD and if so, was it made bootable? Easy check is boot another machine with it...or not! Next on the chain is the BIOS settings...make sure the CD is set as the startup device. If it already is, the try setting the boot sequence to CD and nothing else, FORCING the machine to try to boot from the CD. The only thing left is to copy the CD to a completely different brand of CD-R at 1x, or whatever the slowest speed your recorder can reliably write. BTW, if it's a CD-RW, that can cause this problem.
