I have been given a laptop to fix for my friend but i am quite unsure of the problem

its a compaq armada m300 and down the side of the screen is a white strip, is there on start up but right at the beggining of startup part of it isnt there, an when im in XP at the log on screen the end of the strip is blurred slightly

so im not sure what it is

any help would be great!

I wouldn't know for sure but im certain it hasn't been

because stress of some sort could damage the components inside, if in doubt go to your local PC store and ask the tech people to have a look at it.

Look this post, there is a image of display. If you get anything like that your friend should send it for repair.
