I have a customer with an XP Home SP1 PC that had a whole slew of issues (spyware, adware, viruses, etc). I got rid of most of the problems except two. The one that really bothers me is the Run As window pops up every time you try to run any program. You have to remove the check from the box for the "protect my computer" option and then press OK for anything to execute. This behavior is most notable when Windows first comes up and you have to approve each startup app, @ 12 total. This problem persists accross user profiles and even in safe mode. I figure something became corrupt from all the spyware originally on the system, but if there's an easy fix I'd like to hear it.

reinstall window and install sp2.
or try going to start /run/ type in "sfc /scannow" with out the quotes and there is a space between c & /
