I downloaded an update from ms and upon restart it said I could not be authenticated.
Error code: 0x80004005
I can open my computer (ACER) in safe mode but not much happens.
FYI I am on my laptop now.

Jump to Postmaybe in safe mode you could go to the control panel/add and remove programs ans see if you can uninstall the update
or if you are so inclined you could try MS's suggestion .
