Is there any reason why I should not do a search on my C: Drive for all index.dat files and delete them all? For some reason, even though I delete all temp IE files and clear history and autocomplete, there are still some web addresses that try to "autocomplete" hen I start typing in a web address (i.e. EBAY.com).

Will deleting all index.dat files solve this or is there more to it than that?

I don't see any reason why you should not erase any of them. There are basically three types (cookies, history, and temporary internet files). It's probably the "history" files that are giving you grief in the autocomplete area. Go to this link where you will find a lengthy explanation of them, and instructions for manually erasing (and finding) them.
