I have an xp machine set up to run IE at startup. What would make it open the IE window twice. Freshly imaged, never on net can't be virus.
just a setting I messed up.

problem solved. the startup .exe is in all users and the current user.
XP looks in all users and runs startup, then the current user and runs programs.
just remove one.
