I noticed something yesterday while researching the latest MoviePass variant on one of my customer's computers. It seems that MoviePass, the makers of the MediaPipe software, have changed their terms of service.
They used to require a phone call to their toll-free number to cancel your software subscription, but now their website has dropped the toll-free number and replaced it with a web-based cancellation option.
In their terms there is a plain text URL (not a link) that you have to copy and paste into your browser. When you visit the site it checks your PC for the MoviePass software. If you are infected with MoviePass it lets you in. If your system is not infected with MoviePass, it says you don't have permission to access the members area and bounces you to a page that gives you the "opportunity" to infect yourself with MoviePass by clicking on a button.
This company is pretty nasty about installing their software on your PC and then DEMANDING money from you after you have forgotten about their service. For anyone out there infected with this DO NOT PAY THEM ANY MONEY. Just Remove MoviePass from your computer and find a better video sharing alternative.
