I have a Presario 2500. It's the nosiest fan in all creation. It likes to overheat and shuttdown very quickly. Crappy battery life. The soloution I fond after much searchg was bios update. I did it. It worked almost immediately. The fan was noticbly cooler and I think it has yet to own due to heat. That was ood til it tried to boot. You see the windows cylon. The screen goes blank. I've let it for hours. I've tried reinstalling. For some i tried installing 2000. That worked to a point The USB ports don't work. MOre search I find out that with some of hardware used to build some uf them are in compatible with 2000. I all the bios update on the Compaq/HP page with no luck.
