HAD: dry DSL to Actiontec modem/router, ethernet to vonage, vonage to desktop, wireless to laptop. Internet and network were working great...
NOW: dry DSL to 2Wire modem/router, ethernet to vonage, ethernet to desktop, wireless to laptop. Internet is fine for both desk/lap comps but no network either direction. Lap can't ping itself or desk, desk can't ping lap but CAN ping self.
I've been taking advise from different websites all day but nothing has worked.
Windows XP on both
Workgroups are the same
DHCP is enabled on both
Netbios over tcp/ip is enabled on both
ip addys are in same family (192.168.0.**)
subnets are the same
default gateways are the same
Why did it work this morning and not two hours later? CRUD! I mean HELP! Hurry!! I've already lost a whole day of work and my boss won't tolerate much more of my inept tinkering :(
I just disabled Norton 360 on my laptop and voila... network. I put the netbios back to default on both comps and turned norton 360 back on and I still have the network.
Can someone please explain to me what in the world happened??
