Re: Color was being WAY overly abused, and we simply don't have the moderation team right now to effectively moderate it. When I found quite a few posts within a single afternoon which all had every single word a different color just for the sake of being nearly impossible to read, …
Re: I am a lurker before I decide whether a forum is worth my time to register. There are just so many forums out there nowadays, and it's so easy to set up a forum. It's what you do once it's set up that makes it special, and that's what we …
Re: Are you using the writeln() function? Can you show us all your code?
Re: My extended family always goes out to a restaurant on Thanksgiving. We're not big cooks as you can tell from the Dani's Cookbook thread.
Re: I don't recommend using frames. Search engines don't like them and they aren't that good for usability at all. Plus, with techniques as simple as server side includes, they're not necessary to do shared borders / navigation even on a static site.
Re: Many forums create publically-joinable usergroups (such as a Game Developers usergroup) that any member can join as a secondary usergroup. Usually the advantage to being in these publically-joinable usergroups is just a cool badge, but it does let people with the same interests easily find each other, as you can …

Re: I took a psych course a very long time ago where the professor was saying that we dream many, many different times every night, with each dream only lasting a couple of minutes, and we only remember the dreams that are significant to us.
Re: Go to the Blogs section of DaniWeb (Click the Blogs button in the horizontal navigation menu). You should see a button somewhere near the top that is something along the lines of New Blog Entry. Remember, though, that blog entries should either be IT news or editorials - so no …
Re: What you're seeing is the alt text for what should be little icons, which for some reason didn't download / aren't showing.
Does anyone have any solutions to getting Adobe Acrobat's Print To PDF functionality back in Windows XP Pro x64 Edition? :( I'm killing myself here with only 32-bit PDF Printer drivers.
Re: Oh poo! I was just about to go play The Sims. Do I have to spend today coding a notification via PM script for the code snippets? :) Maybe tomorrow, k? You do know, btw, that you can easily see all code snippets you've written: [URL]http://www.daniweb.com/code/coder85533.html[/URL] And you can sort …

I was talking to kub365 on Instant Messenger earlier tonight about the selling value of a website. We were talking about how I've received a couple of offers from some fairly large corporations to sell DaniWeb and I've always refused right off the bat. He asked me that if I …
Re: Pay per click programs typically produce the best results for quick traffic, and Google AdWords starts at only a penny per click for niche keywords. Please don't fall victim to all of the instant cheap traffic scams out there - most of them just send robots and not real visitors.
November is proving to be a very bad month for me in terms of traffic sent by Google. I don't know if it related to me creating a Sitemap last month or what, but traffic dipped by a good 50%! Anyone else seeing this?

Re: It was a rogue Visual Studio.NET ad campaign that we're running. I spotted the flyout before heading off to the bowling alley this morning and my rep emailed me about 2 pm saying it was taken care of. Did you spot the problem after then?
Re: The first version is better - much better keywords to target!! Are you talking about keyword lists for meta tags? Most search engines don't really count keyword and description meta tags with much weight anymore.
Re: I'm disappointed. No one wanted to use my nifty new search bbcode to produce [search]wombat[/search]
Re: People can click the "Add to Chaky's Reputation" link in your post. If they really like your post, they'll add to your reputation. Re: I just came on here for the first time today, and it appears I'm a little late. Everything appears to be working fine, and without experiencing the problem myself, I'm not sure which ad server it was causing the glitch. Sorry for the inconvenience everyone!
Re: Just forward these messages to either Davey or myself and it will be handled. I haven't received any of these emails, personally.
Re: Paid inclusion might find get the engines to find your site quicker, but once it's found, it won't be spidered or all the pages indexed any quicker.

Re: LOL ;D it's true! I had a problem for awhile where my PCs networked together via a hub could only sometimes see each other, and when they could they were crawling at ridiculously slow speeds. I tried everything from reconfiguring Network Neighborhood to swapping out hubs. Took me 2 days …
Re: 'Stein pretty much had the hierarchy down pat. As site owner, I deal with behind-the-scenes issues, coding the website, making fundamental changes, and doing all of the marketing and business stuff. As site administrator, Davey is community leader and deals with everything dealing with how the community interacts, and takes …

Re: Strange poll. I take a shower or bath (depending upon how much time I have or if I'm in a rush) every morning.
Re: I don't experience this problem in IE7. It properly adds the hard return after each list item. However, you might want to try using the WYSIWYG editor. Does anyone else encounter this problem?

Re: This PROBABLY has something to do with my cache syntax error-ing out trying to read the post. Is everything working now or are there still problems?
