Are you SURE you didn't have this issue earlier than Friday? We did upgrade to the latest version of the editor on Friday, but I can't see how it would have affected anything. I spent some time working on trying to fix it (I installed Opera and confirmed I was able to duplicate the issue). However, some other things took precedence today so I'll have another look at it a bit later.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

DId it always do this in Opera?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Does it do that in all browsers or just Opera?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Can you explain what you mean, pritaeas? Huh??

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

OK ... I think I might have fixed the problem.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Oh, also, can you confirm this happens with ALL editors (quick reply, new article, PM, etc)

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

We keep talking about how important indentation is, it would helpful to have an editor that allows us to correctly indent easily.

You can indent by hitting tab. What's easier than that?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

James, can you confirm it's been going on for about a week as well? Trying to match it up with something that changed in SVN.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Also, what OS and browser are you using, and what browser version.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Wait, so the code doesn't appear in a fixed width? Can someone please send me a screenshot. I cannot replicate this behavior.

Also, I'm confused how it's been happening for about a week. No changes to the editor or Javascript for the editor roughly that time ago. Screenshot please :) Sorry but I cannot replicate this for anything and that's the most frustrating part!

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

cereal, can you confirm? I just want to be 200% sure that's what the issue is.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I forced a cache refresh.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

If it's as simple as that, HUGE BULLET DODGED.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

We just upgraded to the latest version of the editor we use last night, so it's possible something is amiss. But I cannot duplicate your problem on either Chrome 19.0.x for Mac or Chrome 17.0.x for Windows 7.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Chromium is the dev build of Chrome, right?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Hehe no worries :)

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

You don't need any license at all. It's fine as long as your ISP doesn't block port 80. It sounds like your hosting company allows port 80 (the http port) to be open, so sounds good.

You mean like "Recommended" in the bottom purple toolbar? It's automatically customized just for you.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Actually, on second thought, what username and password are you using to log into DaniWeb? Are you logging in with your username and not your email address?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

bump Can you confirm please? :) Thanks!

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I just changed something ... is the problem fixed now by any chance?

There are so many resellers and resellers of resellers around nowadays. Many of them are 15 year olds working out of their bedrooms, who decide to just shut the site down when they go off to college, so you have to be careful where you buy from.

As far as I know, you can't buy directly from ICANN, the organization in charge of domain names.

I use Network Solutions (which is kinda pricy) but I would definitely absolutely recommend buying from GoDaddy. They're definitely stable, and at a cost of a dollar a month, it certainly isn't worth royally screwing yourself over just to save $2 ... especially if you plan on monetizing your site.

Unless there's something fishy going on, you can transfer domains to different registrants.

PHP is a scripting language which doesn't get compiled into an executable (an exe) the way C or C++ would.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

What does the function AddAddress() in the PHPMailer class look like?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I had no idea. Thanks for letting me know. Should be fixed now :)

I was attempting to fix the problem that Firefox is randomly crashing for people and I guess I screwed this up in the process. It's soooo hard to diagnose a problem that I can't replicate!

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

It's just you who is saying something. But it's possible lots of non-registered members are experiencing the same thing, so that makes it a priority issue for me.

Hi and welcome to DaniWeb :)

A lot of people blame the forums for taking too long to receive replies. The biggest factor, however, is how well you phrase your questions. We're a community of members helping members, and everyone here volunteers their time. So if you don't show any effort asking a question, people aren't going to be encouraged to waste their time responding to you. Long story short: the more in-depth the question and the more effort put into it, the better the responses you'll usually receive.

On average, it takes a couple of hours to receive a reply around here. Sometimes it can take a matter of a few minutes. Sometimes a question will go unanswered for some reason. It also depends on how active the specific forum is that you're posting in ... we have more experts in some sections as opposed to others.

Posts never get deleted. They remain on the site forever where they will hopefully help many future people as well.

Does it work now, by any chance?

You liar, you!

What do you mean by collapsible? You mean with Javascript?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

You probably already ruled this out, but by any chance do you have custom CSS being set by your web browser?

It took me a few days to figure out that "vote and comment" is a button :-/

You don't need to know that it is. Just hover over the arrows, and the popup automatically appears with the cursor already having focus. Just type and hit enter.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

It should be super super easy though to vote without rep. Just one click.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

The quote button works as follows:

  • Highlight text in a post
  • Click in edit box

It shouldn't happen if you just click somewhere else: only if you highlight text with your mouse and release the mouse button while still hovering over a post.

The Javascript-based code formatter that we use doesn't work on-the-fly (i.e. before a page refresh). Since our reply box and live edit are both on-the-fly, they don't work.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

What have you tried so far? We'll help you, but we need to see you showing some effort. Please post the code that you have so far and we'll help you with any problems you're having with it.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I would choose side projects that both interest you but also strengthen your skills that will help advance your career.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

I was just able to successfully upvote, then reverse it, then downvote, then reverse your post.

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

There's a good chance that it will return in the future.

If you just click the arrow, you are voting without reputation.
If you hover over the arrow, and type a comment, you are voting with reputation.

The amount of reputation points you're affecting the member by is now transparent because I think this leads to more genuine voting, without letting how much you're affecting the member sway your vote about the individual post.

Unfortunately, I don't have either. I just changed something though. Please clear your browser cache (not your cookies, but your cache / temporary internet files) and tell me if the problem has been fixed?

Huh?? I'm not sure I understand what you mean?

Dani 4,645 The Queen of DaniWeb Administrator Featured Poster Premium Member

Hmm ... is anyone else experiencing this? Unfortunately I don't use Opera. Is there anything else that looks off on it?
