Spend the extra and get a good brand! Avoid CodeGen or similar like the plague!

For a decent system, you want a Power Supply Unit which will deliver consistent and accurate voltages. That's far more important than the Wattage rating of the thing.

Who said I'm getting a codegen.

...just found something

FSB

200/266/333 /400+(by overclocking) MHz

Does that mean it has an fsb of 400? Or does it mean you can obtain an fsb of 400 by overclocking.

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

The cpu is an amd athlon xp 3200... the board I can't actually find info on it, I was looking up the wrong review so I still don't know if it's 400fsb or not.

It's Albatron KX18D Pro, know anything about it?

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

err, if a mobo only supports up to 333fsb, and the cpu is 400fsb... are they compatible?

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

ok well now I want a suggestion. I have an intake fan at the front and one at the back. Best placement for the 120 would be...?

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

hmm I am just thinking I might make a window out of that panel and instead mount the fan in the ceiling of the case... what do you think of this idea?

Please, don't make mistakes or else somebody will post them on their website or other forums and make fun of you.

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

Oh by the way. I'd just like to thank everyone who ridiculed my mod. Just kidding. I think you should take the time to sit down and think what mistakes you've made over the course of your life. When you are done, kindly send me an e-mail with your mistakes attached so I can post them on the forums and have a great time laughing and making fun of you with some other people.

You know who you are.

Yours sincerely,

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

LOL thanks for the feedback buddy I may just do that.

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

I have a 350 watt psu, and I was wondering if it would be able to support 3 case fans on an amd 3200 which has a coolermaster dream II fan on it, two hard drives, a floppy drive, a 52X32X52X cd burner, a 56k modem and a geforce fx 5900 128mb…

Thanks in advance,

Slade

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

did you check out the pics of my 120mm mod? Tell me what you think... is there anything else I should do? I am thinking of just leaving it that way.

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

yeah I found that. It's annoying, I had heaps of gray positive rep lol.

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

books are the way to go.... Vb .net isn't too hard to move to from vb6 I found, but you say you haven't had much experience there. Just do what I did, just go out on a limb, don't expect to learn it all in one day, that just isn't going to happen. I work with programmers that will never go back from .net, and neither will I.

Anyways, it all depends on what you wanna use it for. Oh and the "sams teach yourself" are good books to learn from :).

sounds cool, got a picture of you new casing? But hey, the cooling system is like the bloodflow of the computer. Without it or not sufficient it'll overheat. But where are you gonna place it? Not on the floor right? It'll act like vacuumcleaner then :p and about the scratching, I don't think paint will do it though, you'll get strange holes and large scratch-like holes that way. Or your girl is truly an expert :). (Which I'm guessing she is).

QLD training awards? Did you get anything?

I'll have pics of it soon, I got before and afters it was painted... let me tell you it's better off painted lol. No way is it going on the ground, it'll be up on the table with moi :D. The painting doesn't look as good as it could be, but hey. The only thin that isn't that good about it is that in the center its a different texture and you can tell it's been painted because it is slightly elevated... otherwise the color is the same, and I am going to fix it with my own customized glossy stickers anyways.

Stay cool, I'll get those pics for you soon.

btw, I didn't win anything... although they have me nominated for next year lol. I was just there with the company as a sponsor. What you been up to?

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

I've done a little bit, mainly for functionality, not the "wow" factor...

yeah that's basically all I've done. Just drilled a grill in the side panel for a 12cm fan. My Girlfriend painted it last night to get rid of the scratches where I sanded it. But you can tell where it's been painted because it's a little elevated (and the color is a little different), but I'm going to print out some glossy stickers just to make it look better. You'll have to wait for pics I'm afraid *sigh*.

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

Funny you should ask that, I modded mine just yesterday. Not so it would look cool or anything, I just made it to accomodate a 12cm fan. I'll show you pics once I've redone the paint. Basically I did a fan grill template in photoshop, then I printed it, taped it to my case, made each hole indented (so they'd be marked for the drill and so I was able to drill with max precision) then I drilled the holes :D. I'm looking to do a few more modifications... perhaps add a few neon lights or something.

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

I know you said not to ask if anything was muted, but I urge you. In the volume control window, click on file, then properties and make sure you have everything ticked there, then see if anything is muted. Also in wmp, make sure you haven't got that muted, and that the volume is turned up.

that was my original string. I also used sql & windows authentication but it didn't work, not even when I have the username and password as my actual windows authentication... it still said it wasn't a trusted connection. Any ideas?

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

I've fixed it now... I used the "Trusted_connection=yes;" now it said login failed for user DOMAIN\ASPNET so I just made an account called ASPNET :( Althought I would have liked to see if I could make it so it logged in using my sql authentication...

My connection String is:
<add key="strSqlConnectionString" value="server=localhost;database=sladesfaculty;Trusted_Connection=yes;" />

Slade 66 Practically a Master Poster

lol yeah. I just finished the case mod :D. I made a template of the grill for the fan in photoshop, then I printed it out to scale, sticky taped it to the case and use a rubber hammer and a nail to make an indent for each circular hole (there were about 100 of them lol, it was a slow process) then I drilled them with the bench drill. Ran out of work space so I had to use the hand drill, man that case was hard to penetrate. But it turned out great, so I filed and sanded off the excess parts and in the process did alot of scratching :( . But it's all good because my Girlfriend is a painter and is going to see what she can do for me :D.

Anyways, thats my rap for the weekend. Went to the QLD Training awards, it was awesome fun. We were the 'rowdy' table :D.

That's asp .net, which is a little bit of html and some visual basic code :) I love it. I love this thread lol, how awesome is it, we just chat about anything. The geeks lounge rules. I got my new machine yesterday... well everything but the mobo, cpu and monitor . They're all on backorder, I really can't wait to get them, I'm just sitting in my room dwelling over how I don't have them yet :(. Anyways, I'll be able to keep busy until they come, I accidentally ordered a 12cm case fan, so I'm gonna customize my case to accomodate it :).
