By rewriting my pages with an .html extension, it "fools" google into thinking that my pages are static. Therefore, they get the same recognition as static .html pages

I am designing an asp .net with vb .net code behind website. It's just a personal page where me and my friends ramble. There will be forums on there (asp .net ones that are still in beta testing) that I am personally going to redesign after I have them actually working heh;). The site basically revolves around our blogs or posts or whatever. www.maddox.xmission.com, I hope to be a fraction as great as maddox. These are all funny people (minues me, I'm just the programmer) so expect a funny site. Some of my work includes www.goldenwest.org.au and other um, unmentionables :) nah actually alot of my work is internal to my organization so thats pretty much all you will see out of me. Anyways, I think I've blabbed enough about my greatness.

I did that by using mod_rewrite to rename all pages to have .html extensions.

Cool... but how does this raise search engine efficiency? I'm not challenging you or anything I'm just curious because my site will be up soon and I too would like ot know about website promotion.... and what's PR?

From my point of view. Yes. The site was fine the way it was, and it was fine the way it was before that and it's now fine the way it is. I think that underlined links would be trivial... I have never been confused because a link wasn't underlined. But then again, I'm not the majority, perhaps you should have a poll?

um ok, I have no idea what this could be but you could try updating your virus definitions to the latest and then running a full system scan. You could also try running adaware, spybot and spysweeper, just do a search for them in google.

You could always go for free hosting. Believe this or not this site: www.clickherefree.com, allows you to query for size, bandwidth, custom scripting, database support and whatever else you can think of with the advanced search option and returns with a list of free hosting matching your criteria! Call me stupid but I think it's great... however, I am not enlisted with any of the sites lol, but simply because I get asp .net hosting free from a friend of a friend of mine. Well theoretically they can't do anything to pirates. There are just far too many of them. They can try to prevent them from pirating the software e.g. PALLADIUM. I remember that a music record producing company was going to try to put viruses into all their online music, of course, they didn't know a thing about the real world of IT, it was just a load of bullshit. There will never be an end to pirates, we've all pirated at one stage in our lives in one way or another, it's just not going to happen. Why should microsoft care anyway, their profits are insane.

If you don't allready have it, get a copy of hijackthis, create a new folder for it, run it, and post the log on these forums. We will further instruct you on how to solve your problem.

To all you pirate windows xp users out there, tried using windows update lately? Well it's no longer available to you. You see with the introduction of service pack 2 for windows xp, Microsoft have decided to stop pirates from getting the security benefits of their product. Despite rumours that microsoft would loosen security with service pack 2, but it isn't surprising that they've taken the same stance that they did with good ol' service pack 1. Windows update now checks your Product ID with a list of activated product ID's and known pirate product ID's. If you are in the list then, no updates for you! If you have got your own legal copy of windows however, and it still wont let you update, my advice would be to contact microsoft ASAP. Chances are a pirate has allready used a program that generates Product ID's based on the algorithm microsoft used. It is rare, but I have heard cases where this has happened.
