I'm just curious as to what a browser needs/needs to have enabled to view an aspx page. I need this info for writing some technical documentation for an application I created.
Thanks in advance

Nice to meet you mark, enjoy your stay at the forums :)
I meant in general
Well paladine, I can tell you right now css is not easier :) (in my opinion) but, it is much more compatible across browsers and platforms. My website is designed in css and has been tested in mozilla, ie, opera and netscape and it looks identical across all those browsers, so I'm happy :). It is a pain for positioning and layout but you just have to tweak it... alot until you get it. That and look up tutorials etc. I use padding and margins alot, but it depends on what you want it all for.
Sorry I couldn't be more help,
Slade
Thanks Tekmaven, I'll post my t-sql code when I get home... and give you a little more info on what I need it to do. By the way, I'm thinking of installing the beta version of the asp .net forums... is it worth it? How long until it goes official?
thats my problem Tek, I don't know how to work with text data types in a stored procedure and thats what I'm using to write to the table :( I really want to be able to do it though....

Haven't heard from you for a while yzk, what you up to lately?

well, I've experimented with it a little before and validated it, aligning a div is not valid strict xhtml 1.0 anyways heh :). Other than that I don't know, I know I had different results when I used the div align but none that would make sense. E.g. I set the text-align in my stylesheet to right, this worked but I set the div align to bottom, nothing happened with the text but an image I had in the same div was aligned to the top :). Other than that I'm not sure, I think that text-align only applies to text.
once again, my opinion is much ado about nothing.
Hey all,
Just wondering if there was an asp .net control out there, which allowed me to specify a folder full of images, and then change them all to thumbnails (with links to the actual image) and display them somehow, like in a datalist or something. I suppose I could simply do this myself...
Any help would be appreciated
Slade
could somebody. Anybody. Tell me who in the right mind would want to create their own OS anyway? You would need to make drivers for every piece of hardware you own, no it wouldn't be easy in any way, there is just too much work involved.
Anyway, thats what I think.

half the length and width of the area
What area? The box you are trying to centre I assume?
As always tekmaven you were helpful, that control is awesome. Where do you find out about all of them?
Yeah paladine, I've done it before, although my designs are much much much simpler :p
Actually if someone would show me one of their more 'detailed' designed that they have done this way I'd appreciate it alot :)
Oh, including code too

I can acheive it on mozilla (firefox latest) and netscape (latest) but the other browsers hate it. Man why can't all browsers just have the same definition on things
ok clicking on the actual button with the mouse WORKS, but when I hit enter and I'm in the password field, it just clears the form whats the deal? It should just login like when I click it, please help.
Thanks in advance,
Slade
Ok guys, here's the deal. I am using css for my website, everything is super duper, except for ONE page. It's the login page, I have used a table for the login box so as to position everything properly. What I want to know is, (btw the table is in a div) how do I vertically align my table to the center of the web page using css, is there a way at all? Otherwise I'm just going to have to use padding to get it away from the top a bit.
"SCRUMPTIOS" I screamed.
I know what you're asking but I'm not sure you can because it's a unique identifier for that very record, it won't work like that. If there is a solution to this however please post as I'm interested :)
You misunderstand bentkey, whats happened is bluedos has taken the pc from his home network (it worked then) to his aunts house. He connects to the network at his aunts house, there are no problems or issues. He gets back to his house and he can't reconnect to his own Local area network. Bluedos, could you please give exact details of the problem. Is the light at the network card flashing etc. please answer the questions I've allready posted so we can give you further support.

Hi,
I'm upgrading my notebook memory, adding another 512MB.
My laptop is a TOSHIBA 2410 (Pentium IV).
Which memory should I use? Is it DDR RAM or SDRAM?Will a no-brand/generic memory work with my laptop? Otherwise I'd have to buy like Kingston memory which is more expensive.
Thanks in advance!
Make sure you consult Toshiba to find out which RAM is needed for your system
What is the best / fastest way to format a hard drive that currently has windows 98 on it?
I currently don;t have any computers avail w/ xp to put the hd into.
-Ron J
Sounds like you just want to format the drive. Since you are using win98 I suggest the fat32 file system in which case you should go into dos, type fdisk and select the drive you want to format :). That should work. Then all you gotta do is install 98 :D
What is your definition of not working? You can't see a computer, what? Please elaborate when asking a question. If you can't see a computer, try going to Start>Run and type:
\\*name of another computer on the network goes here*
If that doesn't work, then try configuring the ip address of the machines to either 192.168.0.x or 10.1.0.x where x is a variable. Make sure all machines on the network follow the same format or else it wont work. Also, check to see that the network card/hub/peer network card light flashes, if not then it must be a hardware problem whether it be the cable, the card, the hub/switch, the peer computer etc.
You may want to try going into command prompt/dos and typing: ipconfig
this will let you know if you are on the network or not, if it doesn't work it's a hardware problem. If it works, try pinging another computer on the network.
Basically what I'm saying is, screw around until you get it. Did you change the workgroup of your computer while you were away? Are you on a domain? If my advice hasn't been helpful, post back with more info.
Cheers,
Slade
you should be able to boot off the cd... but if you can't, there are plenty of boot disk files you can find on the net that allow you to access your cd drive, or you could go to the manufacturer of the drive and ask them for one.

I wish you a quick recovery and that the job gets done. I hope the doctors aren't as hopeless in their trade as I am in mine lol. (kidding)Get well soon!
We'll miss you,

sorry, it's actually the t710b
Hey all, I go to LAN parties every sunday, I've had my monitor for a while and I've been to two since I've had it
however, last weekend the settings on it totally changed, even the diagonal alignment or whatever, it's an f710b I think and I've installed the drivers for it. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Slade

Use percentage values to define the height and width of anything, this way it should look great across all platforms and browsers. Also, the very best way to layout a web page, if you want it to be viewable across all browsers is using css, it is soooo good for compatability, tables aren't a great way to lay out as some of it isn't valid html 4.0
Lol dude, this is networking from hell? I had to setup a network between win95 and winxp pro, that was in NO WAY a pleasant experience.
Greetings.
Slade, the http://www.clickherefree.com is a great place!
By the way, is there anything such as a self-hosting?
Is it possible to host the website myself provided that I have a domain?
Yes, but I'd suggest you use a seperate server dedicated to hosting websites and other stuff. If you need help setting it up, just ask.

(By the way, pazaak is a mini card game on Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic, its the only game I've played for AGES and I'm so hooked on it)
lol I bet you though you'd done the power supply yeah? Things like that have happened to me a few times. I remember I was on the net during a storm (stupid stupid stupid), I was looking outside and saw lightning strike somewhere near, at the same time I got disconnected. No happy ending to this one, I fried the modem. Now I use power surge protection on everything :). Of course, a better solution would be to maybe, not use it during storms but what the hey.
