I can't see that you have a real problem there. It just looks slightly different in a different browser. If you have a more specific issue, please state it. You may also like to do a google on things like IE CSS hacks. These will help you make it look exactly the same in both browsers. But TBH your problem of it looking slightly different is not really a serious issue in my eyes. I am not saying that you shouldnt have posted just that you shouldn't worry about it.

You could try doing it with a gif but that probably looks even worse. But you can try a png file. When you select save for web in photoshop all you need ot do is select png-8. This should be smaller and a good quality image. You could also try 24 bit.

When you say other websites have good images but with small sizes this is because they require(mostly) less colors if they are logos or general graphics than yours does because you have a photo in the background. Therefore they can be saved as a gif and are often smaller than their jpeg counter part.

Yes fair enough you may want to make a flash page with it but, you you still need to get out of this service and my point isn't that you can't navigate around the "service" from this window but incase you hadn't realised people don't just stick on one website they use lots of them and need to be able to go to a different address at anytime. Err... Excuse me yes you are correct it isn't the point of the topic however I do not contradict myself and I would like you to realise what I am saying. I will explain what I have said in a different way (this does not mean I will contradict (negate) myself):

From a user's perspective it is not good practise to stop the user from using the browser's navigation system because this effects their overall web experience. However, this is exceptable if the page is for example:

• an image enlargement
• a more detailed product description
• or something that is small and does not require the full width and height of the page.

The reason for this is that the average user may not notice that a pop-up has appeared and will then feel lost because their normal browser does not look normal! They will then have no way of navigating away from the page apart from closing it. Whereas, if it is a smaller window the user can see what is behind it and can still see how to navigate away from the specific page.

The main aim of general web design is to keep the user happy and to have good "usability" on your website. For this reason, it is not good practise to pop up a full screen window with no navigation bars.

I truely hope that this has cleared this whole argument up. You must understand that my comments …

Well, just about all Linux distros can look that way when properly configured. Any Linux distro can run just about any window manager, such as KDE or Gnome. KDE is certainly larger, but it can handle more special effects and is often more suited towards programmers. I prefer Enlightenment as my window manager.

OK, so when ever I have tried to install "special effects" on windows they always to out really bad and riddled with viruses and bugs. Could you possibly recommend me a few different ones.

*Cough*, *cough* Fedora Core isn't exactly lightweight, as previously mentioned, it's a monster of a distro, and won't likely run much faster than Windows unless you tweak it heavily. However, if you've got a fast computer it won't be too bothersome. But just to let you know: no matter how fast the distro seems to be, the load times for Linux are always longer than Windows.

Yeah I know that from past experience because the load up goes through all those checks. I am really bothered about how fast it is when it is running. I guess that will be superior to windows?

I've never used Google Desktop Search, but no I don't think Fedora comes with one. Knowing Linux though, it's highly probable that one has been made for Linux. Google …

You only copied the first part of my sentence and that did make it sound like I was saying it isn't possible but if you finish the sentence you will see that I infact simply made the comment that it will annoy people because they cannot navigate away from the page without closing it.

IT IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT ANYTHING IN A WINDOW THAT HAS NO MENU/NAVIGATION/ADDRESS BAR IT IS JUST BAD PRACTISE BECAUSE PEOPLE CANNOT NAVIGATE AWAY FROM YOUR PAGE WITHOUT CLOSING THE WINDOW SO THEREFORE YOU WILL ANNOY THEM

I doubt it is anymore than 5% if you are lucky. I guess you could some kind of dynamic to some css in the html which goes through a script that counts the hits? I don't know whether that is possible, just an idea. I am not sure it is worth the effort because most people will probably click a link if they are interested. I am not sure about the software but here is an idea:

If you have two sound cards or one onboard sound chip and one sound card which most pcs do these days you can plug your mic into the onboard sound card and set skype to receive audio input through this. You can then set skype to output through your soundcard which you plug your speakers into. I hope this solves you problem.

You can definately run a teamspeak server because that is how it is done. There will be tutorials and help files on the teamspeak website.

You need some kind of graphics software like photoshop and then select save for web and it should be a alright size file. If this doesn't work the only other thing I can suggest is that you could split the image into a few smaller images. Does that help?

Few POPULAR game servers filled with easy backdoors

I have 20 secs on my first attempt today and I have only touched it about twice before that. It gets easier after the first one i think.

Bluetooth dongles are pretty damn useful now because of the things that they will connect to. The only thing that I can connect to is my phone but I plug it in every day. The only thing that bothers me is that they are easy to loose. Oh well you can't have everything.

Like the forum this is in says I am a bit of a linux newbie. If anyone can give me some info on fedora core, such as what you think of it I will be very grateful. I wondered whether anyone could also recommend me a (free) linux distro that has these kind of features:

• Looks really sleek and much better than windows
• is quick to load up
• has a search like google desktop search.
• is easy to dual boot with and I can access all my windows files
• Has good compatibility with hardware

I think you need to read my comment again. Because I didn't say that it is not possible to display anything in this window. I just said that it is advisable not to do so because people may want to navigate away from your page and by stopping them doing this you will enoy them. That should clear it up, but please read things properly next time before posting.

The text box that you filled in to create the post was a wysiwyg editor. It is quite a basic one but that's a good example of it.

I am not quite sure what you mean. But I supose your website could benefit from rss feeds because you will receive up-to-date content on your site from major news site like the bbc and digg. That is how you can benefit...
