You may want to bare in mind that even if you can't afford the full cs2 photoshop can still by photoshop elements which is much cheaper and will probably have everything you need present.

I hope this quick tutorial will solve your problem.

 1. Create new image at the correct size for you.

 2. Paste your photo into it. Then Create a new layer.

 3. Next drag this layer behind you photo’s layer.

 4. Now fill this layer using the paint bucket. Use the color white.
 5. Next right click on the shape icon and select rounded rectangle.
 6. Set the radius of the corner to 25px.

 7. Next, drag the rounded rectangle out so that it covers the entire image.

 8. Then control + click on the icon shown in the image below. This is on the layers palette.

 9. You should now have little dots around your rounded rectangle.

 10. Select the rectangle marquee tool.

 11. Hold down control and drag two marquees out (one at a time)over the corners that you do not which to be rounded.

 12. Next click “select>inverse” and then click on your photo layer.

 13. Then hit “delete” on your keyboard. Then hit “ctrl+D” on your keyboard.
 14. Now, right click on your layer with the rounded rectangle on it in the layer palette and select “delete”. Then select yes in the dialog box.

Thats the image finished, now all you need to do is select "save for web" in the file menu. Here's how mine turned out:

Sorry to ignore your post iamthwee, but in general something like Photoshop or Paint Shop pro will do the trick. Or fireworks.

You should try getting some free trials and see which one suites you the best.

roryt 150 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

You could use some blogging software to do this? I think that would give you all you realy needed.

roryt 150 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

No, I'm not sure about redirecting. Because people may then think that it is what they were looking for to find that it is actually nothing to do with it. I think a link is the best choice.

roryt 150 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

That is very funny. Please post these kind of emails when you get them. ;)

roryt 150 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

The reason there is no "100 percent" is that some older laptop computers have a scroll function (independent of the browser scroll bar) which allows the screen to have a larger total height than the displayed portion.

I don't understand, could you explain that again and maybe post a screenshot?

roryt 150 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

See this link http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp

It is quite interesting, it shows how more and more people have come to sense ;)

roryt 150 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

After the stupidness

roryt 150 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

From a developers side that is probably one of the most annoying things. Obviously ff and even opera treat css tags better.

roryt 150 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

I think the easiest way to make your site look good is to use both browser for testing. Or even use the ff plugin ie tab. Anyway the idea of web design isn't to make your site look bad, because most people who use the web will thinks it is your website that looks bad not the browser that is making it look bad.

roryt 150 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

Your say that there is no way for it to know the height, however it does know the width but I suppose the fact is that it doesn't.

I would normally set heights in pixels if I was going to set one not inches or centimetres?

roryt 150 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

I just let it, just to show how goofy IE is.

You say that but it does exactly the opposite like you said early on in your post, it makes the other browsers look bad.

roryt 150 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

I disagree that everyone has the latest version of their browser... That's like assuming everyone uses Windows XP, and every WindowsXP user will be on Vista when it comes out publically.

All though there is alot of sense in what you have just said. I did have some logic in mine.

 1. An operating system costs money, and alot of it, whereas browsers are mostly free and available quickly.
 2. People who access the internet have an internet connection which means they will probably be notified by ms every 10 mins to download the latest updates, including browser updates.
 3. People that have win 98 will most likely have ie6 if they are on the internet which remember is the only way they are going to view your site.

What i am trying to say is that browser compatibility should not be much of a worry when switching to css design, because most things can be fixed.

On the modern browser point: the large majority of people will have the latest version of their browser or at least on version back. But then again different browsers do display tables differently, the skill is to build the website so that it doesn't.

What about trying a flash trial and then an image ready trial and seeing which you prefer and then buying it. For most people elements is enough and if you buy flash the world is your oyster, as they say.

Personally, the only places i use tables are when I am displaying data that has to be set in rows, because then it just makes sense to do it that way. Otherwise my markup just gets so messy that it becomes unreadible and less productive.

I can't see you problem on the left hand nav but there are a few different things that may help you fix this, these should be on you element in css:

.header {
border: 0px;
padding: 0px;
margin: 0px;
line-height: Xem;
}

You can just mess around with the line height X number until you get it right.

I have helped someone else out before with this problem before, here is the link http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/post297370.html

hope this helps

There are many scripts online to help you do this, here are two:

- http://www.webwizguide.com/asp/sample_scripts/RTE_application.asp - this is for you if you have a windows server,
- http://www.kevinroth.com/rte/ - this one works with ASP and PHP.

Hope those links help.

i would use opera/firefox bout Minimo is slow and the mobile version of opera (which it claims to be free) actually isnt free and i like to have 1 browser between my PDA and PCs

I can see why you might want to have the same browser on the both but seriously is it worth sticking with ie just so you can have the same bookmarks in both.
