The criticism is that there are too many ads, sometimes literally running solidly across the page, that the ads are not relevant to IT, and that some of the ads are in fact flyover ads which obscure content.

The flyover ads are not meant to be here, as Dani has already mentioned earlier in the thread - and she is, as far as I am aware, attempting to get to the bottom of why they are and to remove them.

As long as it's not an army of cybermen, that's OK. I used to be really scared of them as a kid, first time around...

Welcome to the DaniWeb TARDIS Seffy, it's much bigger inside than you might think at first :)

As we move ever further towards becoming a global community, where social networking and Web 2.0 concepts rule supreme, what has become of us from the perspective of identity?

Technology drives ways to speed up, enhance and render our lives in the 21st century but at what cost.

In a world where identity and digital identity are increasingly becoming one and the same, what has happened to privacy?

So I ask the question, is it possible to remain truly anonymous in this digital age unless you effectively opt out of society as we have come to accept it?

The repeated manual clicking thing is to prevent click fraud. There is no reason why you or your staff/friends should click your own ads (other than occasional troubleshooting) unless you are trying to artificially inflate the click rate.

So I guess the answer is don't think in terms of 'how much can I get away with' but rather 'I don't need to do that so it's immaterial.'

The ATA/IDE cable question was the one I got wrong in the mini-test, it would seem. Humph! :(

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Probably a little over the top :)

I used to be heavily pierced 10 years ago, 15 or so in each ear, three in my eyebrow, a couple in my nose, and so on continuing further south. They came out when new babies arrived, after the first couple had been pulled out by little fingers in fact.

Have to say, I always fancied getting implants on top of my head so I could have one of those screw in metal spike mohawks. But then, I readily admit that I am just not normal.

These days I leave the body modifcation down to tatoos and nothing else, with work on my right 'sleeve' nearing completion. Probably another couple of 5 hour sessions and it will be done. Mainly getting the background in now to remove all traces of virgin skin showing through. Then work starts on the left sleeve, which will be another year in the doing, before work starts on the backpiece.

Well I would have to say my own Inside Edge, here at DaniWeb and to balance the self-promotion I enjoy reading Right On by our own joeprogrammer very much as it's always thought provoking and interesting stuff.

Away from DaniWeb, Gizmodo is on my must read list as a confirmed gadget addict, as is News From The Lab which is the blog of the security labs staff at Finland based security vendor F-Secure.

A bit miffed that I got 9/10 on the mini test as I was pretty darn sure I hit 100%, so did the standard test and got 56/60 which I am pretty pleased with.

Hello and welcome to DaniWeb. This isn't the forum to be asking question, just introducing yourself.

There is a computer science forum, but you might want to think about your question a little more before asking it there. Give people a bit more of a clue about yourself and the kind of project you are looking for, for instance. As is, it is all rather vague...

10 dead in the UK, ranging from falling trees onto cars, falling walls onto people and even a truck driver whose vehicle tipped over in North Yorkshire killing him.

We have sporadic power here, school (in next village) has been closed today as it has been without power since 5pm (GMT) yesterday, power OK in our village at the moment but not sure for how long.

Several large trees down in our area, four along one 3 mile stretch of road alone (and I mean big, mature, trees of some girth) which caused it to close.

No structural damage to the house, but half a fence blown clean away and one tree down in the bottom field, plus all the usual debris from elsewhere that has found us.

All in all, I feel quite lucky that we have escaped so lightly. Now we are waiting for the snow which is promised over the weekend and into next week.
