Re: Like a lot of things in our government, it needs to be scrapped and rebuild. Properly.
Re: Rofl Midi, this thread is hilarious...
But we can't run the special scientific applications we need on Windows So we have to use DOS. Except that we can't find new computers that run DOS 6.2 anymore, and the old ones are dying.
Funny, seems to me a lot of …
Re:
Most of the popular graphics cards are supported, but obviously not all are guaranteed.
If by "most" you mean nVidia :P I've gone back to Windows myself. It has the everything-just-works -easily factor, and it's compatible with everything I need. I liked running Gentoo, but the rare broken ebuild and …
Re: See if the clips at http://asp.net/learn/ work for you. I've only watched one of them though (and without sound, so it wasn't very helpful but I got what I was looking for).

Re: You'll either have to upload it or create a .NET or ActiveX control that will be able to manipulate the local file. Web apps themselves should not be able to manipulate local files for security reasons if nothing else.
Re: Does it always happen at the same time? Possibility that someone might have set up a cron job as a prank or something?
Re: Oh damn. I hoped this thread would be a rant about using RFIDs in passports. <threadHijack>Does anyone know if the new US passports have been hacked yet?</threadHijack>
Re:
I don't know. But most here will tell you to never use void main()
They'll probably tell you to never use goto as well, but that doesn't mean you should just listen to them. Find out why, and then do what is best; and yes, the popular opinion can be …
Re: Read, knit, and a small variety of other things. I'm spending less free time at the computer now that I stare at a screen at work everyday...
Re: it sets endwait to be the current clock() value (presumably a timestamp) + a time to wait. It then goes into an empty loop until the clock() value becomes equal to endwait, at which point it exits the loop and continues. This technique is also known as a spinlock (link …

Re: You might try Fedora (which is basically RedHat for desktops) or CentOS (whish I think is akin to RedHat for free). Both of these would have SELinux (RedHat's security extensions) built in for sure.
Re: I have a 17" LCD at home and a 20" LCD and 19" CRT at work. And 15.4" on my laptop.
Re: My parents let me do the computer thing. I built one in 9th grade for a school project, and I've been tech support ever since. It's not always fun :P
Re:
I just asked here because having spoken to programmers. They say they don't have time for it. And I'm still in high school thinking of a career in programming. I just want to be true to my faith and if not being able to have time for it in the …
Re: did you create a virtual directory for IIS? I think you have to do that before it will actually serve a website.
Re: You mean from a RichTextbox control (or whatever the name is)? There should be a RichText (or similar) property, which will give you the contents with formatting codes still included (as opposed to the Text property, which is just the plaintext). Converting that to HTML will probably require another function, …
Re: The solution here is simple: don't keep him waiting for 30 years. :icon_rolleyes: Since it's too late for that, his punishment should still stand. He was convicted and he has to pay the consequence. Also, as quintioncoert said, it's a dangerous precedent. Before you know it, it'd be down to …
Re: Look up how transactions work. That'll keep you from giving the same room out to two different parties. :icon_wink:
I'm working on a website that's basically a forum software, but with a different arrangement. There are only 3 levels of posts (questions, solutions, and comments), and for the comments I want to be able to have the user highlight part of a solution to comment on. To do that, …
Re: So long as no real harm is done, I think finding bugs is extremely beneficial. Especially exploitable ones. Things like the XSS bug recently pointed out are very good to get fixed. Things like Rashakil's rep bot are less important and cause a stir, but I'd label it as mostly …
Re: I'm an Oompa-loompa. I just decided, didn't need a test to validate it. :P
Re: I fail to follow the logic of [tex]girl \rightarrow favorite\ pet = dog[/tex]... :p I'm not much into pets... my parents have a pair of Jack Russell Terriers, very cute, very very hyper, but I just didn't like the inconvenience. I do enjoy other people's pets though :p
Re: Could definitely be interference. One of my friend's speakers were so bad, she could hardly hear the sounds from her own computer... :P
Re:
Dani, you just made my day. Thank you so much for this, reputation is much more accurate and looks a lot more like it was about 7 months ago. A much-needed band-aid; reputation is now a bit meaningful.
++ Thanks much Dani! :) | |
Re: Sheesh, why don't you guys get that reputation doesn't equal popularity? It's for the tech part of the site. You're more than welcome to come to the Coffee House (and please do), but the main site is for technical issues and the reputation system is meant to improve that.
Re:
But I've been raised in what these days is apparently a rather oldfashioned way.
Unfortunately, you're probably right. And I don't think that this "old-fashioned" is gonna retro its way back to popularity any time soon...

Re: The EULA for WinXP only allows you to install it on a certain number of machines (2 IIRC but I could be mistaken). That said, for your programming it's a toss up. I find that a Linux distro is great for C, whereas C# could be a pain. If you …
Re: I don't know about the < and > since it's a text property, but to hide the other month numbers you can set the font size to 0 (here's 2 ways):
<asp:Calendar ID="Calendar1" runat="server" OtherMonthDayStyle-Font-Size="0px" > <OtherMonthDayStyle Font-Size="0px" /> </asp:Calendar>
| |
Re: I'd also point out that in your code you have both code paths setting the control to Enabled rather than one changing it to Disabled. Possibly a typo in your post, possibly in your actual code, so I thought I'd mention it.
Re: Car I have: '97 Volkswagen Jetta Car I want: changes fairly often, but I certainly wouldn't complain about a Porsche Boxter or Carrera. Of course, I've not actually driven one, so I can't say for sure that I want one...
Re: I think that his post translates approximately to the following:
Hello. I am going to Sudan in 1 week and 5 days. It would be very useful to me if you could find a Ford Mustang for sale. My mom has taken away my current car (a Lancer), …

Re: You'd probably want to do a postback when the first (and second) drop-downs change and update the next field accordingly. If you don't want it to refresh the whole page, you'd likely be looking at some AJAX.
Re: ntfs-3g is being hailed as a working driver, but it's still very much in beta. You could give it a shot though (it's mentioned on joeprogrammer's link).

Re: Aha! first chance to hijack a discussion! So, I just built a new computer the last 2 days. It's got a AMD 3800+ on an Asus mobo, with 2GB of RAM and I'm using integrated graphics because I'm too poor for a good graphics card atm. For the CPU, mobo, …

Re: It's a very broad description of what you're trying to do. Can you be more specific? Do you have a sample? And please show us what you have already.
Re: If you're developing in ASP.NET, you'd use the .css file ProgrammersTalk mentioned on a master page, and have all your content pages use the same master, so as to ensure that the style is employed on all of your pages.
Reading through the blogs today, I read two distinct entries that struck me as odd. There were not tech-related, and furthermore it was the first activity by either member on Daniweb. Also, they both tended to focus on some type of product and had a link to it. My guess …
