Re: Haven't been around for a little while, liking the new menus though. One request: is it possible to make them fully expand? Having subforums listed is nice, but usually I go from, say, the Geek's Lounge to the Windows Vista subforum, and it's just as many clicks as it ever …
Re: Hm... I like Rashakil's solution. It's more elegant than anything I would have come up with. Unfortunately, I think I broke it. Test case: [inlinecode]extract_digits(-1, 9, 3)[/inlinecode] which causes a bad index into the tenpows array.
Re: I've heard that Intel's Q series is still better but haven't compared myself. That said, I find it funny that the study compared Intel's first Q chip with AMD's not yet released 2nd round of chips...
Re:
no, ms block the update for people with blacklisted drivers
Any idea if there's a way to tell what the blacklisted drivers are? Here I was excited to update it :(
Re: Ick. The one song I sampled was not so pleasant as, say, オレンジレンジ, or L'arc~en~Ciel. Hell, I'd much rather listen to 宇多田ヒカル all day, but I like her music anyways... :icon_razz:
Re: For me, the list would probably be something like: surfing the 'net (not very IT, really) watching anime knitting (even while watching anime!) my girlfriend :P
Re: Only really cool people are allowed in. But really, there's so few of us that meet the coolness bar that it's pretty dead. Except when someone new is inducted and goes around necromancing a bunch of threads.
Re: Don't really play games that much. The occasional DotA game or Starcraft with my roomates, but those are kinda rare even.
Re: VS 2005 SP 1 made changes to make it run better in Vista (I forget the exact issues addressed, but there were a couple). VS is only supported on Windows platforms though ;)
Re: In the middle (capacity wise): Zune2 80GB </troll> :icon_twisted:
Re: Does that mean that those of us who've already paid get an extension? :D Also, is there an easy way for subscribers to tell when their subscription ends?
Re:
as the only thing ultimate has that home doesn't is bitlocker encryption, ultimate extras, support for larger hardware, and those "extras"...
And remote desktop (also available in Vista Business at the cost of some features in Home). Of course, I'm guessing there's relatively few people who actually remote into …
Re: omg thread necromancy ftw... But seriously, Happy B-day :) Hope you had a good one
Re: Out of curiosity, have any of you tried out the new IE yet? Any thoughts on how it compares? (disclaimer: I'm not using it yet either... :P)
Re: AFAICT, most of the services running take relatively little memory. Vista is pretty aggressive in it's use of memory though, so upgrading to 2GB should make a big difference.
Re:
Most people who are Republicans.
Why? Because they have a different perspective, which lends itself better to a capitalist economy?
People who make racists comments in the Geek's Lounge.
Nigga please
People who like to get drunk to destroy their livers.
I do, however, completely agree with you on …
Re: the 169.254.x.y IP address means you're not getting an IP address from your DHCP server. You can try running [icode]ipconfig /renew[/icode] to see if it renews and gets one properly. This doesn't always work though. Have you tried power cycling your router?
Re: alt or Ctrl+o It was weird not having the menus at first, but I use them little enough that I've started to appreciate the extra viewing space... all 50 pixels of it :P [edit:] also, you can click the tools button on the lower-left of the toolbar and turn on …
Re: >Is there a better compiler collection than gcc? Subjective. VS and XCode are both good for their respective platforms. I know they're IDEs, but that's what people tend to care about. >Is there a better shell than bash? Subjective. Some people prefer features of csh, ksh or zsh, or else …
Re: About mass transit: the point of mass transit is not to taxi you from point A to point B; rather it's to find a series of points A', B', etc... such that people will be able to make up the difference with their intended route easily. If people weren't scared …
Re:
I'm probably wrong but it looks like the pattern a .410 shotgun would make choked down. If I am right, I would like to know the distance for that spread (er, if I am wrong, nevermind).
I had the same idea, though I wasn't particular about the caliber of the …
Re: For IE, I think setting the title attribute will do that. I'm pretty sure that this does not work on Firefox however.
Re: I'd rather not argue a Vista vs. XP (or vs. 95, that's just silly), but hopefully your backup copy works out. Of course, if you've used Vista for a full trial you should know if you're going to activate, and I'd hoping you're not using a pirated copy (if you …
Re: Back in my databases class, I worked with this one girl that was pretty hot and amazingly cute (there is a distinction). We also worked together in our operating systems class...
Re: Only think I could see wrong is that if the planets are moving at different angular velocities, or worse yet in opposite directions, they'll end up bumping against each other due to the lack of space between them...
Re: The new version of Office has a file format using XML. Vista itself has very little to do with XML, and it's certainly not based on it.
Re:
Yet another curious poll that will challenge your intelligence. What do you think is the average age of DaniWeb posters?
How does this challenge your intelligence? I would make an assumption that this statistic would vary across different parts of the site, so if a user has a biased interaction …
Re: I've largely abandoned Facebook. It's only useful for managing events with people who don't use anything else. Social networking sites are highly overrated :P
Re: Usually your computers can see each other, but accessing files on one from the other requires some form of authentication. This is why Windows is giving you the login prompt. I can't remember the details of how to get things working and I don't have a Mac handy to try …
Re: I voted No. I swing through the forum, reply to stuff, check it when I'm done to see if someone was replying while I was doing other stuff, then leave for a while.
Re: I'd go with the politicians over corporate leaders. If the C*O/VP/P of a company fails to pull something off, there's a huge mess for the company and a smaller severance package for the ex-corporate officer. Politicians on the other hand just pull stuff off and get away with it almost …
Re:
if u r pure Windows programmer and not aware of Powerfulness of linux plz dont reply.
While I agree, I'd not discount the power of Windows either... ;)
Re: I don't know that it'd be the most efficient, but you could save the Excel document as XML and use that as a data source on your website. You could then set up permissions to edit the XML data through a web interface. Like I said, this might not be …
Re:
You are of course correct, Narue. I often take my birthyear and center it with my favorite food. Something like "19kumquat84"
this post reminded me of good times That said, the easy-to-remember is important and not a word is important. Another example I've seen is taking something like "4 score …

Re:
quad core processor running @ 4.0 GHz (intel builds them specifically for gaming)
How well are gaming engines taking advantage of multiple cores these days? I know writing an engine to do that is a pain...
Re:
You might also come to find that php is cooler than asp, and quite possibly never look back.
I found the opposite, so you never can tell. @OP: as mentioned, Visual Web Developer 2005 and 2008 have their own web server. It's not exactly the same as IIS, but you …
Is there a way to report bad blog posts? It's currently a very rare occurrence, but I couldn't find one easily (hence my recent thread about a spam blog).
Re: I know about it, but I get by fine with Gentoo (which I'm using less and less), so I never tried it out. Good luck though ;)
Re:
wont it be SP3 Jbennet? Are you actually getting rusty?
Correct, SP3 will be out fairly soon. Re: It depends on the blogs. I have a list of blogs that tend to be highly technical (most of them are Microsoft blogs, not coincidentally), and I pick up a lot of new information that I probably wouldn't come across otherwise. Some of the information is fun, some of it …
rucdkey18's blog is just spam. didn't read it, but I'd guess it's not within the rules anyways. ;)
Re: Did you log out and back in? Policy changes don't take effect until your next logon.
Re: Access is available with the Professional and Ultimate editions of Office. AFAIK, those are the only ones.
Re: I had one (still have it, actually, collecting dust in the corner) and it worked fine. I think checked the level about every 6 months, and added just a little bit of coolant about once per year. That said, it was kinda overkill (and the one I had could get …
Re: My mom got her eyes lasered and it worked well for her. I can't get mine done, as I'm farsighted though. And I'd recommend waiting till you're at least past your 20's just in case your eyes decide to adjust themselves again. Wouldn't want to waste that procedure, afterall ;) |
The End.
