Well I use Office 2007 on Vista SP1 (no SP for Office thou) and it works like a charm, and not a memory hog as some mentioned here lol But if possible, go for Office 2010 looks and feels better (well on Win7 I tested)

Well try to see if the previous Office is still present in your programs, as it may still be sharing registry etc. you'll need to clean the regitry to remove the files. Then try download the offline setup for Office? Btw is it office 2007 or 2010?
