Yup what Rik said could be true. Have you change any sound settings. Maybe you change the sound output settings thus you can't hear any sound. Go and reset the sound setting to default and tell me whether it work.
You can change a processor as long it works with your motherboard. If not you have to change a motherboard as well. This depend what brand of computer are you using
You can easily replace a driver. As what Rik said it is cheap. You can also do it by yourself, usually the driver is connected by only 1 to 2 screw you can unscrew them and fix it yourself. You can also purchase a driver from Rik's shop.:D
Check the voltage and amperage requirements printed on a label on the bottom of the laptops then check the output voltages and amperages of the power supplies just in case they both have different power requirements. It might also be worth checking the output voltages of the power supplies with a digital volt meter if you have one.
