Hi, New to the forum and I hope I can get some help in the venture in achieving my CCENT/CCNA. I have done lots of research and been have come to the conclusion of using: 3x 2621XM's or 3x2821'S (Routers) 3x 3750 / 3350 (Switches) I eventually want to venture into CCNP onwards and was looking at the Cisco 2901/2921 etc but would that be overkill as would like to futureproof myself by spending the little extra. In all fairness the model hierarchy really confuse me in the Cisco world so any advice would be greatly appreiciated. I have looked …

The hardware that I want to use is first a laptop ( make it send via a router to another computer). Then I want to replace the transmitting laptop with an arduino with wifi chip or raspberry pi with a wifi chip. What shall I do on the software side to begin with on the laptop?

Hello DaniWeb Community, I've recently switched to a cable internet service and with the modem/router [our provider](https://www.iinet.net.au/) sent us which is a modem/router and the parental controls on it are crap so I've had to hook up our old router for the kids (dedicated for them). So what I'm wanting to do is have access to all three routers on the network, here is a layout of the network. ![Network.png](/attachments/small/3/6850849e4f534e3a8d7ce419fa386833.png) Key: **1** is the bungalow **2** is the main modem/router **3** is the kids router (because as I said before the main router has crap parental controls) So I'm wanting …

I have a home lab I am trying to configure multiple subnets on and use Routing and Remote Access LAN Routing to get everything talking. I have two hosts w/ 5 physical NICS running Hyper-V. I have the NICS configured on each host so they each are in a different subnet. Example Host 1 NIC 1 10.10.10.1 Host 2 NIC 1 10.10.10.2 Host 1 NIC 2 10.10.20.1 Host 2 NIC 2 10.10.20.2. I can ping the IPs of each hosts nic from each other. So I know the two hosts are communicating. I setup a RRAS server with 5 virtual …

Hello. I have a scenario as such. 1 router connected behind a proxy used to connect PC with LAN devices. Proxy provides limited access to websites on the net. There is a 2nd router, Wifi only, which is not connected to any proxy, thus allowing open connection to the web. I would like to use my ethernet connection (LAN cable) to access the LAN devices, while using a USB WiFi device on the same PC to simultaneously be able to use the open network. Is this possible on a PC running Windows 10? If yes, what are the steps to …

I have bought a new Netgear WNR614 N300 Wi-Fi Router. I plug in the power cable and all the LEDs light up and then after few seconds only the Power LED and the Wireless stay on. I plug in the DSL cable provided by the ISP and the Internet Connection LED doesn't light up. Six months ago I bought TP-Link router and when I connected it to my PC I was getting I-Ball interface. So I had to change router ip address and was able to use TP-Link normally. My friend told me that it happens if you used other router in past. After couple of months I bought new PC and have never connected any other router to my PC. Today my internet connection was disconnected so I tried detecting network type. Usually my connection is PPPOE but today it was Dynamic IP, so I changed my connection type to Dynamic IP and …

Two wireless routers were purchased at the same time. The SSID is the same for both: NETGEAR49. The passwords are different. One router was installed in location A. The other router was installed in location B, 65 miles away. Set up went swimmingly. Problem: I cannot access the Internet at location B with the devices that use the location A router. How to I get around the SSIDs being the same on each router so I can use the wifi at both locations?

Hello Daniweb Community, I'm wanting to know if anyone has an idea on how to distribute wifi throughout a motel? The idea I got is kind of simple but the thing is how do I set certain bandwidth of guests/rooms? so when a guest checks in they are given like 1GB for example then when they use it they can purchase more then the manager just adds in however much they pay for. My idea was just adding users however what routers can I use? Here is my plan: ![Motel.png](/attachments/large/3/61f88438e93033f9ce4bd4008fe5434c.png "align-left")

Hello Daniweb, I'm going to moving houses soon, a house we might be moving into has a bungalow and I was wondering how I'd go about running ethernet from the house to the bungalow? My idea was to some how run the ether from the house to outside then dig a trench from the house to the bungalow run the ethernet throught a PVC pipe (not sure if it's worth it, only thinking for better protection) and lay it in the trench a bury it then find a way to feed it into the bungalow. Not sure if my method …

Hi, I am trying to set up a 2012 Server for VPN access, this is not a domain, just a plain 2012 to store files for local access but now I would like to install VPN so we could access the files from remote sites. I have read and followed many guides, all seem straight forward, but I am keep getting random error such as 678,79z, 801, 807 (I am guessing each time I change the client settings the error reflect the changes). The router in use is just a normal TP-Link with PPTP support which I am told when …

I was wondering if anyone could help me diagnose a problem. I am an IT professional with a math degree, so I know there are large gaps in my knowledge. Here is the scenario: we are a small international school with a basic network configuration using all Apple routers. The base router is an Airport Extreme, and there are 11 access points configured to broadcast the same network schoolwide. In addition, I have two Airport Express routers functioning as extenders, because there was no hardline available where they were needed. My problem is with the extender at the front office. …

So I have a question and I really need some guidance for this as networking unfortunately isnt my strongest area of IT expertize. I've recently had a new client of mine approach me wanting to setup internet access for tenants at an apartment complex he owns. Attached is a very basic topology diagram image I put together with my initial vision of how to set this up seemlessly. https://www.dropbox.com/s/5o8cywytp39kulr/Apartment%20Topology.pdf?dl=0 The initial proposal was fine since it was a bunch of WAPs powered by a POE switch in a locked server room and were generally inaccessible inside the ceiling. I had …

Good Morning, As this is a homework question, I'm hoping for some guidance in the correct direction or a website. I was given an IPv6 address and I need to find the EUI portion of the address. And EUI is just the first 24 bits of a MAC address with the seventh bit flipped, followed by FFFE (16 bits), and the last 24 bits of the MAC address. Naturally, if you see FFFE in the address anywhere, it's an EUI address. These are the IPv6 addresses: 2005:007D:4500:000C:0000:0010:11D8:6E71 2005:007D:4500:000C:0000:0002:4A5C:E1C9 The prefix is 2005:7D:4500:C::/64 FFFE isn't in either of them. Did I …

Good Evening, I just can't seem to wrap my head around this IP addressing. Lets say I want to use 192.168.1.0 default gateway. Then Router IP Address = 192.168.1.0 Lets say my subnet mask is 255.255.255.224 = 32 IP addresses and 30 hosts. That makes my first line out g0/0 from the router to switch1 ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.224 That gives me a network address of 192.168.1.1 Host range of 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.31 A broadcast address of 192.168.1.32 Lets make G0/1 from router to switch2 ip address 192.168.1.33 255.255.255.224 That gives me a network address of 192.168.1.33 a host range …
