I just ordered a server with dual power supply's if I wanted to upgrade the power supply/s could I get a normal one or do I have to get a special one from a IBM parts supplier?

Also do you have to plug to power cords in for it to start?

all server parts are generally non standard so no

And yes, they need power cords. Just standard kettle plug type ones

I ment they are 2, so would I need two power cords plugged into to run it?

possibly not. Some do, some dont.

Ok ;)

The dual PSUs are for redundancy, not for additional power. They are probably 1U type which is atypical for home PCs (generally used in servers), these are smaller, so you cannot use a normal PSU. As stated above you may be able to only use 1, however it would benifit you to use both for redundancy...if you got it use it. Best Regards, Mav.

Yep,

It works with one but im going to pick up another power cord!
