What are ALL the parameters considered for measuring the "QUALITY OF CD-ROM"?

Is it only the speed by which you can write on it, and other parameters expiriencable during the CD writting itself (like failing to write it correct) or is there something more?

(What I have in mind? Well: I know that there are CD-WORMs (Write Once Read Many Times); I think I even had one (some games were on it (I bought it that way)) - when I tried to use it again after a while CD drive couldn't read it. Catastrophical. Imagine that you write some really important data on something like that, and then you can't retrieve it after a while!)

Heat affects CDs. Sunlight? Does it deteriorate on its own!?! (I mean - basicaly it's a very sensitive optical medium we are talking about...)
