i am not acquainted with mics.i bought a FARASSOO FDH-340
head set. i actually waned to use the mic only and so i connected only the pink line to the pink port on the back of the cpu.but when i started training nothing happened. then i went to accessories>>entertainment>>volume control but there was no microphone there.
then i went to control panel>>sound and audio devices there in the voice tab the default device was sigmatel audio.(if this is of any help to any of you).
please help me so that i can use my mic.

If you have windows live messenger, run through the audio / video setup and it should over-ride all other software and get your mic going.
