A couple of weeks ago I was copying cds, and noticed that the entire copying process was only taking 3-4 minutes per cd. Now, after reformatting my computer, my burner still shows that it is writing at 48x, however it is taking atleast 10 minutes to copy a single cd? Any solutions or ideas to what might be wrong?

Generally some slow down over a period of time, wear on the laser. I had that problem once, but luckily it wasnt from the drive, I think it had something to do with Windows XP SP2, it also affects USB 2.0 is some ways. Check for firmware upgrades from the company's website, thats what helped me. If not check around for more ideas
