Go to driverguide or do a google for... Diskonkey_Win98_Driver_Installer.exe (or just DiskOnKey) It is 1.4megs and will fix the problem 98 does NOT have drivers and most memory sticks were made long after 98 so the manufacturers do not provide drivers. This will take care of the problem...

I wrote a program to do that a few years back. It would create a filename using the current date. It was easy to set the parameters of the backup to whatever files I wanted to save in the backup. I will try to find it and make it available. …

Did your heatsink have a clear plastic disc (Almost invisible) over the core where it touches the cpu... If you didnt remove it that is the source of your overheating. Did it have a big brown thermal pad? Did you apply thermal grease over that pad? Just some ideas...

It is the perfect situation to use a bootable CD of Knoppix. It will autodetect your SATA and let you get the data off your old system. Do not write to an NTFS system. Make a fat 32 partition or just burn the data to a cd or dvd with …

Usually find a failing power supply or a cpu fan that is dirty or dying. Check your cmos settings for temperature warnings and shutdown temp. Possibly set it to not return to previous state and to shut down. That way if it is the problem it will shut off and …

People really need to use the XP option to create a password reset floppy when they set up a system. Even if you change your password then forget it you can just drop in the floppy and reset it.
