Can anyone nhelp me with my laptop? When I try turing it on it will turn on but the screen turns black also when i put light at it it will show alittle of the screen. help? and my laptop is a gateway

First, try the laptop connected
to a monitor, if you get normal image then the problem could be: the inverter or the light inside the screen, I had the same problem and the solution was to change the inverter, I did not do it myself.Hope you can solve this problem.
