My computer stopped booting. (Will not POST). After reading some forums and looking at a few things I noticed that THERE WERE NO FAN BLADES ON THE HEAT SINK FAN! Just the bearings. I can't hear or see the fan motor/bearings turning.

I find this AMAZING! It is (was?) an AMD Athlon chip. Have we fried the processor? How can we determine if it's cooked?

The board is an ECS L7VMM3 Pro3000A+ Combo.

There are passive (read: no fan) CPU cooling, but looks to me that your fan turned into a chopper.

Some BIOSes wouldn't let you turn on the PC if they sense that the fan is not working (rpms). Some newer boards even measure the fan's voltage. I hope that simply putting on a new fan would "unlock" your PC.

If the new fan doesn't do the trick...it's cooked alright.

....ummm were you able to locate the remnants of the fan? (the plasstic blades and stuff)
