My HP Pavillion Notebook has been giving me a hard time lately, and I'm going to reinstall it, but first I need to back up some of my files. It started by freezing when it started up, but eventually I was able to get around that. Now, I turn it on and it takes me to the options screen because it was unable to boot up successfully last time, and no matter what option I choose (safe mode, normal, last good config.) a few seconds into the start-up it stops and restarts all over again.

how can I get past this just for a couple minutes to back up my files?

if your data is quite of importance then i suggest use an external usb enclosure and back up using another pc..
