does in run when in safe mode?

yes, it runs fine in safe mode

Virus scans show anything?

virus scans dont show anything.

I suggest using a maintenane program like tune up utilities or system mechanic and running a full check. They have trial downloads and are pretty good at finding and solving problems. Ive been running tune utilities one-click maintenance evert day for two years on my desktop and havent had one problem. And this is from a guy who installs and removes at least two progams a day and im always tweaking windows and changing settings. Worth a try :)

tune up utilities found some errors and fixed them, but there is still no respone from control panel

anymore ideas would be great but im just close to giving up n goin for a re-install...

im sorry if i did'nt or dont comment on hijackthis logs, I dont really pay much attention to them because ive never had to use it. Although apparently it can be pretty useful if the right people see it.

A reinstall is always good but dont forget to back up those files.

I have had to reinstall windows too many times to count, sometimes losing data, sometimes just to clean up. I learned that using a system backup program can really come in handy. I havent had much luck with system restore but advanced system optimizer has a great back up restore utility.

i started to do a re-install but then realized i could Repiar instead. system restore work this time and now the machine works fine. :)

however, i will keep in mind the tune up one-click, it seemed to have done something so thnx for the tip.

thnx for time its most appreciated.

Good to see that a Repair resolved your issue.

Next time (maybe this will help someone else) before trying a Repair or a Reinstall you could try and see if re-registering the following dll files in System32 folder helps. vbscript.dll
jscript.dll
mshtml.dll

Additionally, also see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936686

Your HJT log was clean btw :)
