What happens when you insert a CD?
Does it show up in explorer?
Have you tried differnet CDs?

You could also see if the problem is the same in safe mode.

More info please! Have you been able to use cd on the drive in the past?

Is the device listed as a dvd cd-rom device in your device manager?

...not even antivirus software,

when you go to Computer and right click on the cd drive icon and go Explore does it read the CD

i sent you a private message...
i have tried many cd's
how do i check it in safe mode?

Enter safe mode, just reboot PC and when it restarts just press F8 until choices are given:
1. Safe mode
2. safe mode with networking
3.........

Hi,

If trying safe mode results in the same then you could try a bootable CD. This should determine if it is a Operating System issue or Hardware issue.

If we can't solve your problem you may have to buy a new drive. hopefully that won't happen.

Hello,

It looks as if some drivers are missing or corrupt for the drive.

Can you go into device manager and see if the drive is listed and if there are any exclamation marks next to it.

I suggest giving this a read.

- Let us know what you see.

the drives were listed there also..had a hard time finding the drives but i did after 3 hours lol...
