I need to graph a simply 2-D graph. I am having a problem getting matplotlib to work. I am using python 2.6 on a Windows 64-Bit operating system (Windows 7).

I have downloaded matplotlib v0.99 for windows 64 bit. When I go to import pylab there is no error message in the python shell it just gives a windows error and restarts the shell. I have reinstalled matplotlib and numpy several times with the exact same result.

The exact file I downloaded for matplotlib is:
matplotlib-0.99.1.win-amd64-py2.6
