After working with this friend's laptop for a while the image quality on the screen stars to deteriorate and in one occasion the system crashed just to recover spontaneously later on. I am running windows vista premium 32 bit application in that laptop. The problem does not occur always but after being working for a while and having more than one application open.
I do not know if a video driver update could solve the problem or the problem may be related to other causes.

That's more likely to be ram. The built in graphics uses system ram. Try some different ram in it and see if it cures the problem or not!
