What is this computer being used for? About half the garbage looks like it's server-related, but the other half looks like a home PC.

Your problem seems to be partly an overload of background processes, rather than a virus, hijacker, or Trojan -- but we have to know how the machine is being used.

Note that RunDLL32.EXE does not normally run as a task under WinNT -- it runs, then exits. Look here under the Task List button for more on this.

Run a full virus scan, then tell us how you use it and we can help better.

This computer is used for home and work notas a server. I have ran norton antivirus and the scan come up clean. Any suggestions of which programs that don't need to be running? thanks

I asked because so many of the processes you listed are server-oriented. How did they get there? I'm working on a kill-list for you right now.

By the way, when I spoke of "garbage" in my first reply I was disparaging the software writers, not you or your system... :)

I am also having this same problem

Can someone please check out my log.

Why isn't the Task Manager/Processes table being analysed here? Whatever's hogging the CPU will be clearly displayed.
