okay, i have a copy of windows xp and a hard drive with windows already on it but because windows craps out after a while (and its being crap right now) i need to reinstall it. The last time i loaded it on it was easy, this time i cant figure out how to get the dvd drive to boot first, ive explored bios but i dont see anything as far as setting the cd or dvd drive first.
there has also been a few times when i have managed to get the cd to begin booting only after a few minutes it says it cant detect a hard drive.
can someone please give me some tips or suggestions?

assuming you have 2 cdrom type drive ,go inside the case and dissconnect the other ,leaving the dvd rom connected ,make sure you set the jumper on the dvdrom to master .having said that you should be able to set it to boot first in the boot section of the bios .
