Hi,
I got an ext HDD recently which refuses to work with USB 1.1 ports (It worked on my friend's USB 2.0) although the product clearly says it's backward compatible.

I was wondering whether it is essential to put the external HDD switch to master - i haven't got a jumper to do this, and i was thinking that this might be the problem - what do you think?

IF anyone's interested, I bought a new case for my HDD and that solved the problem! Master setting obviously not necessary.
