Good morning,
could use some assistance here....I have another variation of this problem - the 0x0000080 version. From what I have been able to determine online @ MS http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330314 this is the result of a faulty install that updated my Win2000 MSVCRT.dll with the XP version.....a fatal mistake. Will not start under safe mode prompt /debug/last good profile. This laptop has a FAT filesystem, so I would like to do the obvious and create/use a MS-DOS boot disk....expect there is no floppy drive on this PC. I set my bios to start with 'removable media'. What I have available is either an external CD drive or a USB Flash Drive - but I can't find any information on whether either medium will work as a 'boot disk' and, if so, how to either format myself or otherwise obtain media. I am currently using my backup PC which is also a Win2000 laptop with internal CD (read only) & floppy drives. I do not have a CD burner immediately available...but could borrow one 'in a pinch'
Thanks,
DougMcq
