Our forum threads have the URL format /category/threads/123. Each post within a forum thread has a permalink URL /category/threads/123/1 and /category/threads/123/2, which jump to the specific post on the page. Regardless of which URL you use, I am setting the canonical URL to /category/threads/123. Should I also set the meta …
Bing Webmaster Tools SEO Analyzer feature has an error message "There are multiple <h1> tags on the page." Are there really not allowed to be multiple H1 tags on the page?
Re: The answer to your first question I can't help you with. If I understand you correctly, you want to offer music files that are already offered elsewhere on the web, but don't know where to get them from? Why would someone use your site versus any of the other sites …
Re: I turned off autocomplete in this way ... [It's valid HTML5](http://www.w3.org/wiki/HTML/Elements/input/text).
Re: Sorry, you looked at it while it was broken. I was working on having it only put members who were active over the past 90 days in the top list but it didn't work so I reverted it.

Re: You can make the change in the php.ini file, but you can alternatively make the change at the top of the PHP script with something like this: `date_default_timezone_set('America/New_York');`
Re: A lot of SEO experience will let you build up a great resume with testimonials. You can build a business through word of mouth.
I use tooltips via the title attribute to give helpful advice about what different elements on the page mean. However, there's a lot of redundancy both on the same page and between pages. Can this hurt me, or does Google pretty much understand/expect you to be doing this? ![]()

I know that there's mention of this date in another thread I started here, but I wanted to draw attention to it. We lost 50% of our traffic on Tuesday, November 20th, 2012, and haven't recovered since. That day I don't believe lines up with a Google Panda algorithm update …
Re: Please post in our [Job Offers](http://www.daniweb.com/business-exchange/jobs-and-resumes/52) forum.
Re: Elliptical, exercise bike, and treadmill. I *try* to do 30-45 minutes at least three times a week. It's not a lot, but for someone who works at home on the computer, it's just about the only exercise I get. ![]()
Re: Theguitarist, there needs to be some type of visual feedback for people to understand how the feature works. How would the system know when you're *done* selecting all your pieces of text? It could be over the course of ten minutes with a five minute break between selections?
Re: Create a portfolio of small mini-projects that can serve a dual role of showing off your skills and also gain some publicity for your "virtual resume". Have each project be something that would attract a widespread audience while at the same time showcasing a different major skill.
What features do you like or use in other forum systems that you think would be a good fit here on DaniWeb?
Re: I'm not an Opera fan and I really don't want to have to install it. Can someone else please confirm this bug before I'm forced to see for myself?
I've made a handful of changes to member profiles tonight. One of the changes I made was to include little blurbs below Reputation, Post Quality Score, Endorsements and Solved Threads explaining what those statistics mean. Do you think that now member profiles are too wordy and redundant? Is it more …
Re: I've found that a computer science degree is not very helpful when doing web development. I'm coming from a B.S. in Computer Science and honestly found that there's very, very little that I did in school that has anything remotely to do with the LAMP development / jQuery / etc …
Re: Sorry, I didn't see this thread until now for some reason. Bug fixed :)
Re: Ahh, Aitch. I was just about to suggest Quark XPress too. It is actually the #1 program to use for desktop publishing.
Re: I somewhat disagree, deceptikon. I think that being now asked to travel for a week at a time once a month away is excessive, when you were explicitely hired as an in-house developer with no travel required. If I was hired by a company to write code in their main …
Working on a new feature that will accept tutorial submissions. How many of you guys would actually contribute unique tutorials to DaniWeb? :) (Just trying to get a rough idea that will help guide me on how to set this thing up)
Re: How did you get it? Would be great if you could post your solution to help others out!
Re: Read/New status is computed in real time. There has to be a logic bug somewhere. Hmm, I'll investigate.
Re: If we all knew the easy answer to this question, we'd all be billionaires :) Oh, wait ... I do know the answer ... An awesome, unique idea and good, interesting content that people will want to keep going back to read, tell their friends about, and link to.
Re: Please link me to the thread in question. Does this happen with all threads? What web browser and operating system are you using?
Re: Never heard of them but their website looks terrible. As bhav123 says, try GoDaddy. They're a huge company and they're good and cheap for small companies who don't need much.
Over the past day and a half, I've worked on generating our own in-house thumbshots service, instead of relying on the commercial product at thumbshots.com for the website screenshots seen when hovering over links and in member profiles. Doing so will save us $500 a month, so that's good news …

Re: There is no minimum number of posts to have a forum signature. At one point in time (a few years ago) there was a minimum of 10 posts, but we found that a lot of people were just spamming or making ten crappy posts just to hit that minimum, so …
Re: Currently this is a moderator-only feature, although it really needs to be retooled to work for everybody. (The search results are currently moderator-centric with information about the member's infractions, etc.) Perhaps I'll work on doing that tomorrow.
Re: Firstly, sorry for the downtime over the past 45 minutes. Damn Softlayer :) Secondly, unlike in the past when sponsors got the benefit of no advertising and access to a behind-the-scenes forum while everyone else didn't (nowadays, everyone gets no advertising), pretty much the single most important benefit that you …
Re: Yeah, one of our web servers is down, and the load balancer is still sending traffic to it.
Re: > Today i just registered an application and on doing back it added another application OAuth key Do you mean you accidentally double-posted when creating an app key? For now, don't worry about multiple keys. There will be an option to delete them in the near future.
Re: That looks like JSON to me. You can convert it to a PHP object using the json_decode() function. $api = file_get_contents('http://themesnmotifs.com/api/wp/f6f60a0e7091a627641f01b9d1dd7536ea4b8496/list_wp'); $api_object = json_decode($api);
Re: Hey there, thanks for following up. It's great to hear success stories down the line. Always wonder what happens to people! ;) Personally, I would either go straight to the business world, or do a part-time doctoral program while working super hard building up a resume of various projects to …
Re: A lot of websites nowadays use Wordpress. It's pretty much the de facto standard for PHP-based blogging software nowadays. It's also really customizable. I can't tell you disadvantages because I don't use it myself (because I don't have a blog). But I do know that if you *do* have a …
